I think Wolves are giving up too much there by adding both Dieng and a 1st, considering they are taking on Lee's contract.

At this point, Dieng is just a project who is only logged 30 minutes through 8 games and the 1st rd pick won't be too high. I think that's a relatively small price to pay for potentially having greater post-season success and sending Love the message that they're in win now mode.

Is there potential for a realistic trade between Boston and Minnesota that would serve both teams?

The T-Wolves are offering a young SG and a young PF for veteran help.  That doesn't sound like anything that the Celtics need.

Maybe a three-way.

Rajon Rondo, Courtney Lee
for
Ricky Rubio, Derrick Williams, Alexey Shved, Shabazz Muhammad, 2014 first round pick

Boston depth chart:
PG: Rubio / Crawford
SG: Bradley / Shved / Brooks
SF: Green / Wallace / Muhammad
PF: Sullinger / Bass / Williams
C: Olynyk / Faverani
Why for us: It's a tank trade, I won't sugar-coat it, but we get younger and get some nice pieces and a pick.

Minnesota depth chart:
PG: Rondo / Barea
SG: Martin / Lee
SF: Brewer / Budinger
PF: Love / Cunningham
C: Pekovic / Turiaf / Dieng
Why for Minnesota: Rondo is that second star that can make them a legitimate title contender with Love.

Also, this is going to be controversial, but I have to call it somewhere:

Kevin Love will win the 2013-14 NBA MVP

:o

Best I could come up with that might make some semblance of sense for all 3 teams

Houston - Rondo, Bass
Minnesota - Asik, Lee
Boston - Lin, Williams, Shved, Jones, Motiejunas, Cunningham, Hummel, 3 million from Houston, future 1st from Minnesota

Boston uses the cash and cuts Hummel, Pressey, and Bogans to get back to 15 and still shaves salary this year and  long term (could be done with Bass instead of Wallace, but I don't think Houston would do that, but it would be worth a shot).

New Boston lineup

PG - Lin, Shved
SG - Bradley, Crawford, Brooks
SF - Green, Wallace, Williams
PF - Sullinger, Cunningham, Jones, Motiejunas
C - Olynyk, Faverini, Humphries
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

While I'm not all aboard the trading Rondo train, I would love to get the chance to watch Ricky Rubio more often.

REALISTIC trades.  That one is one of the least realistic trades I've seen on this board.

Wallace/Lee

for

Anything.

That's my trade proposal to Minnesota.

Why? Williams, Shved, and Muhammad have done nothing this year (combined 9 ppg, 4 rebs, and 0.5 ast on .406, .200, and .333 shooting, respectively - compare that to Lee's 8.3, 2.1, and 0.6 on .571) and their potential really isn't all that high. Minny's pick will be very late, and you can't deny the difference between Rondo and Rubio. One is an all-star and a top-10 player come playoff time. The other isn't.

You can say you think it won't happen, but I think you're being a little hyperbolic.

I think the trade that makes the most sense would be Jeff Green for Derrick Williams, Shabazz Mohammed, and a 2016 first rounder.

C's get a flyer on Williams and Mohammed, and a potentially valuable pick, if Love leaves.  And Minnesota gets a guy in Green would can transform their bench, and give them a legit SF to really round out their roster.

Meh, I'm of the belief Danny needs players and not more picks. Would be pretty bumed about that deal as I'm not a believer in Williams either.

Kyle Lowry, Dwayne Wade, 13th pick in even numbered rounds, 18th pick in odd numbered rounds.

Shved for Brooks is probably the only thing that approaches a realistic trade here.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

How do you think the Knicks are going to play Jabari Parker and Melo together next year at the same time?  They're such similar players, it will be interesting to see what Woodson does with them  ;D

You want to talk about head scratching coaching decisions...

Injuries forced Woodson into the most successful lineup that team had--two point guards, Carmelo at the 4, Chandler in the middle. That was a big reason for their ridiculous late-season hot streak.

As soon as everyone's healthy, he completely shies away from it. And they lose.

If it gives you a clue as to what sort of veteran they want, Minnesota is reportedly one of the teams asking about Evan Turner.  It sounds like they want someone who can provide scoring off the bench, so maybe when Rondo comes back, they might be interested in seeing if Crawford can be a poor man's JR Smith (last season's JR Smith, not this season's).

In theory, Shved as a 6'6" combo guard sounds like what people want backing up Rondo and Bradley.  In practice, maybe a Euro who has not demonstrated a solid three-point shot or good defense yet may not be that great.
