Considering we get Atlanta's pick if their pick is worse than Brooklyn's pick, it's pretty unlikely.  One of those two are almost certain to finish ahead of us.

Did not know this.  Are either of those picks lottery protected?  Guess I should be rooting for ATL to tank also...

No picks are protected.  If Brooklyn ends up with #1 pick and Atl gets #2, Atlanta would get the #1 and we would get the #2.  So yes, you need to root for Atlanta to stink also.  They got this pick in the Joe Johnson trade.

yup, ideal situation is we take the title, Nets and Hawks both miss the playoffs and come out with the top 2 picks in the lottery so that we get the #2 pick.

pure fantasy but a sweet one none the less.

We win the title from the #8 seed no less, so we get picks #2 and #15.

And we knock the Heat out in the first round causing them to implode and trade LeBron to the Lakers (also in the lottery) for Gasol and 2 firsts, where he suffers in yellow/purple on a below .500 team and Kobe doesn't pass him the ball.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

something would have to go ridiculously wrong in brooklyn for that to happen. we're not the worst team in the league, but i seriously doubt we will be a playoff contender (i see us as somewhere between the 5th and 10th worst team in the league at the end of the year, record-wise). likewise, unless there are multiple serious injuries to key players, i cannot imagine brooklyn finishing worse than the 4th seed.

KG is off to a rough start in NJ, probably due to poor coaching. I would think the Nets end up winning 42-50 games. Celtics probably are over achieving and probably will end up with less than 35. I would say there is only a 10% chance that the Brooklyn Pick is better than ours

Right now I'm thinking both Atlanta and Brooklyn will finish with 40-45 wins.

So no, I don't think that pick will be better than ours.

Maybe is KG keep shooting 32% from the field and averaging 6 points a game...

I still dont think the Nets are going to be a contender but they should have no problem making the playoffs in the east and being a bit better than a 500 ball club.

Agreed. The C's have been playing better, but lets not go crazy.

The C's don't get to play the Magic and the Jazz for 37.5% of their schedule for the entire year.
