Would You Trade Sullinger For Shumpert?

ESPN trade machine suggests that this Shumpert/Sullinger would work.

Would the upgrade from Bradley/Lee to Bradley/Shumpert be worth the downgrade from Bass/Sullinger to Bass/Humphries or Bass/Faverani, in terms of minutes played?

It rebalances the rotation for this season, but means drafting a power forward or center in next year's draft rather than a shooting guard.

While I appreciate Sullinger's defensive rebounding, he is not a defensive anchor by any means. The team is very vulnerable to giving up points in the paint when he is in the game. However, I'm reluctant to reduce the big man depth from five to four, since that makes the team very vulnerable if just one injury occurs up front.

No, we don't need Shumpert, we altready have his clone in Bradley, and also Sullinger is a superior player. We should never make trades for the short term (1-2 months) as Rondo will be back and then what do you do with both Bradley and Shumpert?

My only concern is that we'd offer Sullivan and they would counter by asking for Sullivan AND O'Leary.

I think I would trade Brady for him, though.

In all seriousness, I think Shumpert is probably a better player than Bradley. I'd be curious to know if others agree.

Sullinger should be off the table. He's already a bigger contributor and a rarer commodity as a skilled, rebounding 4 than Shumpert.

Unless there is a question about Sullinger's long term durability (meaning the Celtics know something that makes them think Sullinger's back really is an ongoing problem), I would not trade Sullinger for Shumpert.

I think you can find Shumpert's skill set much easier than you can find Sullinger's.  I think there will be plenty of chances to draft an athletic SG and far fewer chances to draft a legit PF (which I think Sullinger is).

I would not.  As long as he is healthy I like Sullinger more.  He is a very smart player and a great rebounder.

So far he has not been a defensive liability at all so he would have to get worse for this to happen.

Hard to say. I do think Shumpert is a good player and we do have an abundance of power forwards. But then again, we also do already have a lot of sg's as well.

  I'd agree with this. Sully missed half his rookie season and so far this year his per36 average is 20/10, I see no reason to trade him for a mediocre sg.

Shumpert is no mediocre sg. I think he is better than Bradley, but not by much, therefore, why trade Sully for a small upgrade?? If I were to trade Sully, it will have to be for someone similar or a bigger need.

  "Better than Bradley, but not by much" is somewhat mediocre. One would assume that if Bradley starts hitting a few more of his shots the scales would balance or tip in the other direction.

NO WAY!  I love Sully, I feel like Sully will be a 16/10 guy in his prime.  I keep him as a building block...
