If he keeps playing at this level, his contract is a bargain for a playoff team. Unfortunately, the Cs cannot afford good role players at their current tank/rebuild plan. Albeit all the criticism Bass gets, he's been a good teammate and has given 100% effort, playing within his abilities, unlike our old friend BBD.
The good thing is Ainge isn't in need to make trades quickly. If Lee keeps improving his value and Wallace finds a way to look better, the range of trades that could be made by the Celtics before the trade deadline can be good to very good.
Right now, I think Bass+Lee+Wallace for Amare would be fair value for both teams. If Lee and Wallace improve, you could ask more than 3rd year salary relieve from the Knicks.
The showcase season is working out fine so far, Bass was the #1 priority and he's looking great.
