Would someone please explain to me, "What makes this guy tick". he sometimes does nothing for long periods of time and then out of the blue he takes it to the rim like he's possessed.  it's like he teases us with his obvious athletic skills but only when he wants too.
There must be something that sets him off, something that launches him into that james worthy mode!!!!

I honestly think he's a Daydreamer....needs someone to slap him in the face, to wake him up----KG tried last year---and it paid off somewhat....Nobody around now to get in his face....so he nods off, while being awake----if that makes sense.

We are supposed to be in tank mode anyways..remember last yr when everyone was criticizing rondo for cruising in the regular season...well Green is certainly doing a good impression because we all know he can be the best player on the floor if he wants to..he just would not floor the acceleration pedal for some reason other than its a looong regular season so no need to push yourself too much..

While i am tired about his on-off situation my guess is
he is saving for Miami game, so i predict he will drop over
30 point tomorrow
the theory is that it's a up and down body-condition thing
so you just can't keep it the same level every day

Admittedly I haven't seen a lot of games this year ( cut the cable) but I saw most of last season.
To me it seems that he needs to get early touches at the beginning of each stint on the court otherwise he fades into the background.
Does this theory hold up this year?

Abby Chin asked him what he needed to do to produce consistently (or something like that) and he said get rebounds, to get the ball.

So, yeah, and he knows it.  Now, will we run plays for him early?

I think we should keep Green.\

Green and Rondo are solid players,   we have a lot of complimentary guys.   If we can draft a stud and sign one in free agency we are back.   I think it's DA's plan.   Lots of "if's" but it could work.

Their really is no reason to trade him. First of all what would we get for him? Probably not much. I think that three things need to be done to maximize his use.

The first is that, like others have said before me, he needs early touches. And not just early in the game, but early in each quarter, or at least when he enters the game. The ball has to find its way to him.

The second thing is that Stevens needs to have more plays called for him while at the same time, he needs to start cutting to the basket more, playing a bit more off-the-ball. I think that when Rondo gets back though, a lot of that will work itself out.

Third thing that I have also read and agree with, is that we need a real first option. someone with the talent and the drive to dominate, and let Green be the quiet number 2 guy.

Number three is the tricky part though, but hopefully something will work out either through the draft or a trade by the start of next season.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
Unless we are getting a star or potential star in return for a package including Green, I see no reason to trade him off while keeping Wallace.

I don't know that Green's value is sky-high right now. Frankly we should be showcasing Wallace while not overdoing it with Green.

Whether people want to admit it or not, what you see with Jeff Green this year is a microcosm of his entire career. Last year's last third of a season and 6 game playoff run were an aberration. He is what he is.

He will go wild in one game offensively then disappear for an another entire game a few games later and in between will disappear for halves at a time.

In the end he will give you his Per36 numbers of 17/5/2/1 while shooting a bit above average and playing defense a bit above average if he is in the mood.

Trading him probably isn't going to net an upgrade over him but maybe a Green and a pick or a Green and a prospect or a Green/Bradley package gets you someone worth building around Rondo with because Green, just isn't that guy.

I'd keep him unless a no-brainer trade is offered. He only makes 8 mill. Not a lot for the NBA and it's a fair contract. He can be the fourth best player on a contender and maybe even the third depending on your 1 and 2.

I don't think he will ever be an all star but he can be a major contributor on a championship team like Jason Terry and Lamar odom have been.

Your comments would tend to make me ask...Do you know, was his approach to the game of basketball the same before his heart surgery??? I also wonder what his feelings are about being in Boston or would he prefer to be somewhere else. I have noticed during interviews he doesn't seem to be real comfortable.  it's almost like he's holding something back much like when he's playing ball. he's soft spoken, definetely not one of these guys that's on an ego trip.  overall he's very hard to figure out.

jeff green myths are ridiculous.

doesn't any one think that is possible jeff green is trying as hard as he can to win

maybe it is not as easy as it looks

and maybe going all out ala Mark Madsen is not always the best strategy

and you can't always "visually" determine how hard someone "works" "plays" or "tries"

exibit A, Rondo's poker face.

Jeff Green is a great player, stop complaining that he isn't jumping into the stands risking tooth and limb, during first quarter regular season games.

Sports/games have strategy and phycology.  Winning is not only effort.  And effort is not always visible by others, and sometimes that is a very very good thing when competing.
