Ok a hypothetical that had me cracking up.  Diehard Celtics fan gets hit in the head last spring and has been in a Coma.  He wakes up and a Celtics game is on the TV.

How many years does he think have passed and does he try to put himself back into a coma?   ;D

I can't imagine the confusion.  Gerald Wallace!?!

That's pretty funny.

Yea, Gerald Wallace, a coach he never heard of that looks younger than the players, some Brazilian 7ft dude who shoots 3 pointers, and yet somehow Bass and Lee are still around. It would be like the twilight zone.

Imagine if they got hit in the head from their friend who was upset that the Celtics lost the lotto and were picking 5th and only just woke up now.

They would probably think very little time had passed, and Jeff Green looked pretty polished for a rookie but needed to work on his passivity.

There's also about a 50/50 shot they'd be happy Rondo wasn't around but mad that Telfair was gone too.

We'd be wondering what happened to Al Jefferson and GGreen, who we were sure would look like McHale and Tmac.

Did the Celtics really trade Pierce for Wallace?

Let me break this down for you.  Real hardcore Celtic fan here.  We need to establish what you mean by "Last Spring".  I got into an argument with a friend about this once.  If it's Tuesday and someone says "Last Thursday" are they referring to to 5 days ago?... or are they referring to 12 days ago.   Most would say "12 days ago".  But then would that mean that the most recent Thursday (5 days ago) was "this thursday?"... cuz I would assume "this thursday" would mean this upcoming Thursday... 2 days from now.

By "Last Spring", I assume you mean March 2012.  Fine.  Let's talk about this.

Let's say it was March 23rd 2012.   Boston is in the midst of a shortened NBA season.  We're 25-23.  The team is completely mediocre.  Aside from KG, our bigs our garbage.  Jeff Green got hurt, Krstik never came back from Europe, our David West deal fell apart, Perk was traded, JO stinks.  We're starting our 3rd string big man by default (Brandon Bass).  I don't mind Bass, but this dude was brought in to replace Glen Davis off the bench... not start.   Also, the trade deadline passed a week ago and I'M p---ED OFF.  We had two options.  We either needed to have a big man fall out of the sky and save this team... maybe a Chris Kaman type... or we needed to BLOW IT UP.  That much was fact.  I am absolutely mortified (as a hardcore fan living in March 23, 2012) that Ainge didn't blow it up at the deadline.  WHAT THE HECK, Ainge?  You blew it.  What were you waiting for?  This team CAN NOT compete.  We're going to get owned in round 1 or Round 2 by either D-Rose lead Bulls or LeBron-lead Miami.  We especially should have traded Ray, because that dude was an expiring contract and there's a real risk of him bailing on us in the offseason.  I can't believe Ainge stood pat.  I'm really disappointed.

I enter a coma.

I wake up... I see Jeff Green, Brandon Bass, our scrub rookie Avery Bradley, an injured Rondo and a bunch of guys I have never heard of.  Oh look, there's Gerald Wallace.  That dude is pretty good.  He averages like 15 points, 7 rebounds and 1.5 blocks for Portland.   I make the assumption that it's now November 2012.   Clearly Ainge traded Pierce and probably did a sign-and-trade of Ray Allen during the offseason or something.  I make the assumption that Kevin Garnett retired over the offseason.  He was long overdue for retirement.  Jared Sullinger and Kelly Olynk must be some rookies we drafted.  I don't follow College ball.

Bottom line:  I guess that I fell asleep 8 months and missed the entire offseason.

Alternatively, if I had fallen asleep the first week of March, I would have assumed a few weeks passed and it was now just after the 2011-2012 trade deadline.  Ainge did what I wanted him to do and blew it up.  Sully and Oly must be some d-leaguers we signed to fill out the roster.  The main thing that's confusing me is how Jeff Green is on the floor... I thought he was supposed to miss the entire season.  Must have been a miracle.  Oh wait, they just mentioned we are 1-4... it's obviously November 2012.
