Wizards want to make the playoffs but they are a piece or two away from being relevant.  Let's help!

http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=lf45wtq

Jeff Green, Brandon Bass, and MarShon Brooks

for

Otto Porter, Trevor Ariza (expiring), and Jan Vessely (expiring)

we free up a TON of cap space for this summer (saves us 11.7M) and replace Jeff Green with a younger version of himself in Porter

thoughts?

well, that would definitely kill what little offense we currently have.  I'd want a future #1 from them for handing them proven players for an unproven rookie and 2 filler pieces.

Also not sold on Porter as a someone who'll be more than a backup SF on a decent team.

This is actually a very interesting trade, depending what you think of Porter.

I think Green would actually be a great fit in Washington.  They desperately need a better SF, and with Wall, Beal, Nene, and Gortat, Green wouldn't need to be the consistent scoring threat he has shown he struggles being.  He can pick his spots, and they can ride him when he is hot.  He also fits Washington's move towards higher character players, and has DC roots.

For Boston, they get to dump some salary, but they also get a young, talented player to replace Green in Porter.  I think that is basically what you can hope for in a Green trade at this point.

I like it.

I rather try to sell them on Wallace, but then Wallace started to play this season.

Boston gets younger and cheaper.

I have no gauge on Porter, if he's a good prospect I'd do it. But hearing very mixed things about him and then he's hurt to start the year...

How many draft picks does the Wizzards give us?
The beatings will continue until morale improves

Assuming it's at the trade deadline, I think you could get away with a conditional top 15, 10, and 5 protected pick.

As in, they trade us the draft pick with top 15 protection in 14, top 10 protection in 15, top 5 in 16, and unprotected in 16.

Whoops, they traded their 14 first rounder in the Gortat trade. So there goes that idea.

Like the trade.

Give me Trevor Ariza and his great defense despite his inefficiency shooting the ball (he's shooting 41% from threes though). We resign him, for cheaper maybe (around $6 million per) and we have a very good defensive wing who can stretch the floor, rebound and score on occasion.

I don't know what Otto Porter is in the NBA, but I'd try to do a Thomas Robinson and flip it for picks or expirings.

Then decline Vesely and save money.

Don't see Washington trading a number three overall pick for green

I can see DC doing it.  Look at their history.

the 5th pick for Foye and Miller

the 5th pick for Jamison.

Conceptually, I'm down, but would prefer a Green-level player at center instead. Green and Webster locks up a lot $$ at forward

They have a Green-level player at center.  That is exactly what Gortat is.

If they are trying to make the Playoffs then the $$ should not be the concern. They need talent, and this deal will give them talent.

Dont know much about Porter and I am a Jeff Green fan but that would be a decent deal if we could snag a draft pick from them as well.

Otto Porter has more talent than Jeff Green and frankly Ariza is a better fit for them.  Awful trade for Washington.
