This is my first post so bear with me.
Could we convince the blazers to deal us LMA for BB, AB, CL and our own 2014 pick?
http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=msy599q
The thinking here is that LMA doesn't like Portland and the blazers want to be young and think our pick will be high enough in a loaded draft

We could then try and acquire  Gay from the raptors along with Gray for Crash, Mr K. and Crawford:
http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=kqy8z4n
The raptors GM is willing to trade anyone in order to be bad. We'll help him save money from Gay's contract and he'll help us get rid of Crash and his bad contract. Rondo will get to play with his friend.

IT IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT TO DO THE TRADES IN THIS ORDER. We want the blazers to believe that our pick is high.

When RR returns the line up could be RR, Gay, Green, Sully and LMA with brooks, kelly, vitor  and marshall (if we claim him) off the bench.

Thats a solid young playoff team that could be relevant this year and contend next year.

What say you?

1)I think LMA will cost you more than AB, BB, CL and a pick.  Can't see Portland not asking for Sully or KO as well

2)why would Toronto break up a good thing by trading Gay?  I think Toronto can be a Playoff team

Aldridge trade is possible if they can't make the playoffs this season but will probably require 2 1st round picks. the 2nd one won't happen even if it's Green instead of Wallace. Raptors think they have a solid playoff team now.

Hopefully, we can get Aldridge and the Hayward from the Jazz using the trade exception + picks and young players. A team with starting five of Rondo, Hayward, Green, Aldridge and Faverani looks good.

Sorry, but both of these proposals are ridiculously one-sided in our favor.  Ask yourself, is there any chance you would be proposing these is you were Portland or Toronto?  I say no chance in heck.

Yeah they seem quite heavily weighed in our favor but if they for some reason did happen then yes we would likely be contending

With the Toronto trade, they're really not saving much if they have to take back Wallace.

To answer the question-yes, those two trades could make us relevant.

When would you make these trades?  The reason I ask is if it looks like Boston isn't going to make the post season, even after trading for aldridge, and there are no protections on Boston's own pick, then Portland might very well do the trade on the off chance that Boston hits in the lottery.

If Toronto is out of the playoffs I could see them just trying to sell of Gay, but I think they would want some sort of value and not just salary relief.

All of that said, I'm not entirely sure I would do this unless I was positive I could do both trades.  One alone isn't worth it, but both of them would give Boston a pretty solid team, especially if Boston was able to hang onto Sully, Fav, and Oly.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
The notion that LMA is unhappy in Portland has been refuted pretty hard by everyone involved except for sportswriters clinging to one or two third party comments made 5 months ago. Maybe that's just lip service to some degree, but Neil Olshey doesn't think so.

Yup.

Why would the Blazers want AB, Bass, and Lee? Just keep LMA. He is a) much better than those three combined times infinity and b) he is a 20 10 all star player who could net another young all star in return.

Same goes for Toronto. Why would they want Crash, Hump, and Crawford? How do either of these trades in any way shape or form help the opposing team?
