The No. 1 NBA draft pick has yet to make a basket

This stuck out to me and I thought I would pass it on.

Not trying to knock the guy (too early to do that), it just surprises me. I thought Cleveland had a better understanding of who and what they were drafting but it does not appear that way. Here are some recent comments from Coach Brown that you probably saw by now:

"It's been tiring to watch him because every time I watch him he's (gasping)," Brown said. "It makes me tired, so I try not to look at him. I tell him, `If you need a sub, just tell me. Otherwise I'm not going to look at you."

I think Cleveland is terrible at drafting.  I think 3 of their last 4 picks were all pretty bad mistakes.

Kyrie was good obviously.

Then Thompson, Waiters, Bennett.

Imagine Kyrie with:

Valincunas
Drummond (or Barnes, I always loved Drummond in that draft)
Oladipo


But instead they go their way trying to be clever.  Not that Thompson or Waiters are bums but I'd much rather have those other players.  And then Bennett... I don't know what to say yet.

And it's not really as if I'm cherry picking those alternate picks.  They were pretty much no brainers.  Valincunas in particular was a no brainer since the team wasn't going to be good anyways and they could stash him overseas.  And then if you didn't want Drummond, Barnes made a ton of sense for Cleveland.

I feel bad for Cavs fans.  Gilbert and front office are pretty ridiculous.  They not only pick bizarre picks at the top of the draft, they seem to be almost drafting for need on bad teams.

Kind of a shame, we could of seen Lebron go to a team with kyrie, Oladipo,and Drummond. Hows that for loaded with talent?

Thompson is pretty decent, Waiters is okay, but I think Bennett will be a bust. Thompson is a pretty dang good rebounder for his size, and Waiters is a solid scorer. But I don't think Bennett will be able to take Thompson's spot at the 4.

I do think Cleveland over thinks there picks. They avoid the obvious and seem to evaluate players differently from other teams. Bennett just seems alot like bass to me, maybe there is more to him as a player but I don't see it

Bennett was a beast last year in college and in tremendous shape. I wonder if going number one went to his head and he decided to party and take the summer off rather than working twice as hard to live up to the expectation of going number one.

Hard to believe that college players wouldn't show up to their first NBA camp not in the best shape of their lives, but that appears to be what Brown is saying about Bennett.

They should've drafted Oladipo...Only reason they didn't is because they refuse to give up on Waiters. I like Thompson, but I believe Waiters will prove to be a bust.

There were injury concerns about him prior to draft night, so I'm not surprised he's started slow.  I rememebr literally screaming in shock when he was picked.  Didn't think he'd go top 5.  I think he'll be an okay NBA rotation player, but I doubt he'll ever have so much as an all-star appearance.

While I totally agree with those of you who would have taken somebody other than Bennett with the first pick, we do have to remember that there were like 8 different players that could have gone first and none of them were really supposed to be all-star types.

A couple of these guys will have very nice careers and, in hindsight, Cleveland will look stupid for not taking one of them. Picking first in this draft was a bit useless.

They should have made the trade with Philly.  Holiday and Irving together would have been tremendous and because it was #1 they probably could have protected the future first a lot more or gotten more than just Holiday and a 2nd.
