Ladies and gentlemen, I see the bigger picture.  If history has taught us anything, it's that Danny Ainge is a smart dude.  I admire the way he thinks and his patience.  We're going to be the worst team in the league and it's for the greater good.  Let's keep loosing, guys.  This is the only season I would ever say that as a Celtics fan.  Let's lose and lose big.  Anybody with me?

I always said when I left the Celtics, I could not go to heaven, because that would
be a step down. I am pure 100 percent Celtic. I think if you slashed my wrists, my
blood would’ve been green.  -  Bill "Greatest of All Time" Russell

Plenty of people will be with you, and if history's any indicator the vast majority of you guys will furious that you had to watch such a terrible season if the Celts lose the lottery.

The good part at least is that this isn't quite a Durant/Oden situation and there should be several good players.

We will see if that's the case after these guys play out their freshman year, but as of right now at least that's how it looks.

I must go along with the "lets fail as much as possible idea."  As far as I can see it's the only way to go at this point.

However, I can list many teams that have done this over the years that have failed miserably. Let's just hope that DA is much better at rebuilding then those other GM's. If not then this will be very painful. And the Lakers will pass us in championships before it's over with.

I'm resigned to it, and I think it's the best move, but I'm not gonna celebrate it.  It's too gross.

I will try to enjoy the season for whatever it's worth though.  And hope if we make the lottery that the balls bounce our way this time.

Wasn't Avery Bradley rated best or second best in his HS class? I think people are putting way too much stock into these projections.

Enjoy your popcorn.

If Kevin McHale wasn't the Timberwolves GM in 2007, I wonder if people would still be throwing rose petals at Danny Ainge's feet for the 2008 championship.

Only time will tell. I hope as a Celtics fan that he is smart and will turn things around. I've hated some of the moves he's made and have been ok with others.

The next few seasons will show if he's a good or bad GM. Only time will tell and any of us on here who thinks we know the answer are full of it.

He'd have probably made a similar (if not identical) trade with whoever was running Minny at the time.

  • Ashy To Classy, baby.
They obviously made the decision to tank before summer's end, so might as well go along for the ride; watching our youngins develop; laughing at horrible plays, such as AB's awful final turnover tonight; the hopeful ascension of Jeff Green; and just watching problem ball, so we'll appreciate it like heck when we make the good plays. Plus, a hight lottery pick won't be bad. We'll even get the chance to laugh at our awful luck. Love it.
My pic is now, and will be Fab Melo until he posts his first official NBA dbl-dbl. This may be permanent.

The best player, yes.

But this draft class is still better, regardless.  Avery was rated that high but wasn't thought of as that good of a prospect compared to the last few years or anything.

That being said, I'm still happy because we have a number of picks and even if we got like the 3rd or 4th pick and weren't thrilled with that, we might even be able to trade it.  Jeff Green got us Ray Allen, lets not forget.

My gut tells me we will see no "ascension of Jeff Green." He's a good 3-4 option player on a playoff team. I hope a playoff team wants him and takes him off our hands. Because by the time Boston is a good playoff team, Green will be getting old.

We're playing hard, we're just not winning. That's all I could ask for with this current roster without Rondo.

I'll take the losses as they come.
I'll take wins gladly too.

I see our guys fighting hard, We just don't have enough talent, and chemistry just yet.

I believe in this team, We will be back contending soon enough.

I'm not sure I'm seeing "playing hard." I was looking forward to this year to tell you the truth. After three years of "they will turn it on" in the playoffs I wanted to see a team that would try hard even if they failed in the end. But I'm not sure I've seen that.

I almost have the feeling that most of these guys know this year is a bust. And that they're not going to be Celtics for very long and that this is almost pointless for most of them. I can understand that somewhat.
