Great game by Olynyk. This is his bread a butter style game vs the Nowitzki amaze he showed during SL. Alot of garbage points, getting to the FT line, setting lots of picks, high IQ plays, communicating with teammates etc.

The best part for me was the 8 rebounds he scored on the statsheet. Unlike the first two games where he was constantly tapping at the ball, tonight he decidedly went for the rebound with two hands up and grabbed two or three crucial defensive rebounds with less than 3 min left. It's also suprising to how much his lateral quickness has improved since SL.

The bad again is not knowing when to "give up" on plays and avoid picking up silly fouls. Overhelping and running around like a headless chicken at times.

Overall this was a nice "stepping stone" game for him. Looked confident out there and at times outplayed Monroe/Drummond utilizing his iq. Great pick by Danny and i'm sure there is more good things to come

Agreed.  He just knows how to play basketball.  You can really tell this guy was a PG until late in the game.  He is the best passer currently wearing a uniform on this team.

Looking forward to more of this.

The most impressive part of his game tonight won't even show up in the box score.  He played really good defense out there.

Hopefully he will keep it up. Nice to see a rookie play tough d. Love the pick.

olynyk looks very talented and smart on offense. most of his errors are being new to the nba and not knowing, yet, what works and doesnt work. he will be a fine offensive player, not just under the basket, but with passing as well.

but i also watched him on defense. again, he is smart and has great effort. he did a fair enough job of switching and playing team defense.

but he is just not athletic, particularly with his lateral movement. there was one point in the game where he literally fell down trying to defend a guy.

watch and you will see that olynyk very often has to play way off his man to avoid having his man blow by him.

oh yeah, his rebounding was ok tonight, especially since detroit has a good front line.

He looked solid tonight. The game is slowing down for him, which is good.

The only thing I'd wish he'd really do is after he sets a pick when he's below the 3pt line he looks for the ball, then look to set the pick.

I think he's a little on the robotic side right now when it comes to the plays. When Rondo gets back he's going to have to look for that pass or he's going to get hit in the back of the head, because he's open every time. He does that, and he'll start having a nice season.

excellent points. We can forgive him though since he is a rookie and not playing with a legit PG.

Don't forget Avery and his veteran minimum extension he will receive next offseason.

0:55 scoring move will be a real weapon for Olynyk.

Anybody else know of a player that shoots right but favors to drive with their left??

It's strange and interesting at the same time
