I can see Wallace making more substantive contributions to a playoff team's success than Salmons. He's obviously the better defender, and can chip in some points here and there on sheer hustle and grit, whereas Salmons' only real value to a team is as a scorer. If he's not hitting his shots, he's a net negative.
I do think that Fredette might be a trade target for Ainge: Fredette is on a cheap deal, is still young, and (ostensibly) has a real talent for shooting the ball.
If Ainge could possibly swing that kind of trade without giving up much beyond Wallace and Brooks, it'd be a coup.
I look at all the rumors around Ainge & JJ Redick from years past & think, Fredette could be a poor man's Redick. Pretty comparable. Ainge could definitely be interested.
Redick's 1st year he played 42 games, averaged 14.8 minutes a game, 39% from 3 and 6 PPG
Jimmer's 1st year he played 61 games, averaged 18.6 minutes a game, 36% from 3 and 7.6 PPG
-----
Redick's 2nd year he played 34 games, averaged 8.1 minutes per game, 39% from 3 and 4.1 PPG
Jimmer played 69 games, averaged 14 minutes per game, he shot 42% from 3 and averaged 7.2 PPG
-----
Per 36Redick per 36 his second year 18.3 PPG and 2.1 APG
Jimmer per 36 18.4 PPG and 3.4 APG
Obviously both situations are different. But the point is, Redick mirrors Fredette in a way and JJ really didn't start to blossom until year 4.
So I'm guessing the C's might be one of the teams that have inquired. With his option not picked up, Sacramento doesn't have use for him unless someone goes down.
