The only way I see the Celtics having a small, but somewhat realistic chance of trading for Love, is if we are around the bottom three teams of the league in February, and if one of either Rondo or Love are not able to compete at an acceptable level this season. I think a "guaranteed" top three pick is necessary - and I do not necessarily see the incentive for the Wolves to trade prior to the draft. They can probably unload Love for a quite attractive deal at any time the coming year, and for this reason, they would only have to bite on a trade, if they feel someone is willing to overpay.

Also, with the level Jeff Green has performed at thus far, I do not think the Timberwolves would be interesting in taking on his contract, simply as it runs for quite some time, and it comes with a substantial risk. They are not a big market team and cannot afford the luxuries of having a player who does not bring it every night, at the amount Green is paid (based on the assumption that he will be/remain a relatively unstable performer).

I could see an enticing (and perhaps overpaying) package be:
- The two 2014 draft picks
- Olynyk or Sully (They'd want the one who looks most promising)
- Bradley
- Humphries (expiring) to make the salaries match.

That would mean we'd have a starting five of Rondo, Lee/Crawford/Brooks/Kebo, Green, Love, Olynyk/Sully/Faverani. I'm not sure that would be in our interest long term.

Be patient, avoid Kevin Love. He's a good player, but his body won't let him have the career he deserves. Sully will probably be a better fit for the Cs.

Somehow I doubt that.

In short,
As long as RAlderman is coaching and the TWolves keep winning I don't see a reason why 1)KLove would be in the market 2)KLove would ask to be traded.

Assuming they would even talk to us, what makes you think they wouldn't laugh at any package that involves us keeping Rondo?
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

We'll have to include Rondo. And even then it may not be enough.

This team is loaded with average bench players......other than the lottery how are we supposed to trade fools gold for the real team

People are just now getting an idea how really bad this team is ......just hope it doesn't include the coach as part of this bad lot in Boston.

This year will be historically bad.

If the Wolves would be willing to give up Love, they'd have no interest in Rondo; they already have Rubio (who's got far more upside than Rondo) and they'd only be giving up Love if they just wanted to call it quits and try rebuilding yet again.  That said, they're not going to do that; they've not made the playoffs since 2004, what good is another rebuild going to do for them?  They're going to hold onto Love.

So to answer the question: no, that package doesn't get the Celtics Kevin Love at the deadline because it instantly makes the Wolves worse and they're not interested in another long-term move.

You need to include Sully and Rondo and maybe they talk, maybe.

Manny is in all likelihood going to be a playoff team this year.  Did anyone notice the drubbing they put on OKC last night (albeit minus Westbrook).  It's pretty doubtful they're looking to move Love, especially not for such a paltry return as the OP proposes.

Doubt it...

Timberwolves, reportedly, rejected a Tristan Thompson, Waiters, and the #1 draft pick (before it became Bennett) for Love.

Especially after seeing what Adelman can do with a healthy Timberwolves team.

Love will only become available if he makes it clear that he won't be returning to Minnesota. At that point, Green has to have proven he's a consistent 20 PPG scorer to be enough value for a Love.

I don't see why the Wolves would give up their power front court of Pekovic/Love and put themselves out of playoff contention. Barring another injury fiasco, this Wolves team as constituted should make the playoffs. If anything, they'd want to add one more piece to the core they already have. They already brought in Martin to score, so Jeff doesn't fill a need for them. AB would bring defense, but the only sensible swap for him would be Shved. I just don't see them wanting any of our players bad enough to jeopardize their chance at the playoffs.
