what bout a trade with washing ton for Nene?

Humphries and a pick (2nd or like 2020 1st), wizards have gortat as a C and hump and gortat might be nice really.

wizards lineup:
pg: wall
Sg: Bradley
SF: Otto
PF: Hump
C: Gortat
And if they dislike hump after this year, well they have 12million in cap space or reisign him

for boston, I think Nene gives us a quality (not star center):
PG: Rondo, pressey
SG: bradley, lee, brooks
SF: Green/wallace
PF: Wallace/Sully/KO/Bass
C: Nene/Fav

OR
maybe Bass and Lee for Nene?
Bass and gortat played together in Orlando and have worked out together in the past, have good chemistry together.

It gives us a Center and unclogs SG spot a little

I'd rather go out with Gortat/Nene than Gortat/KHumph, assuming Nene is healthy for ~60 regular season games and at least one round of the playoffs.

Yeah with Washington trying to be competitive for the first time in a while, it wouldn't make any sense for them to trade Nene.

Having both Nene and Gortat gives you pretty good front court depth.

I know I wouldn't give that way for either Humphries or Bass/Lee.

For the Celtics personally, I would love it, but don't see Washington going for it nor do I see Ainge even trying ???

Yeah I like the trade for Boston, but I don't think the Wizards get anything out of it.

I like Nene, but he'd rather be a PF anyway, so I'm not sure he'd be all that stoked about playing the 5 with us.

The Wizards love Nene and consider him as untouchable as Wall in trade talks.

I have a hard time believing this. Nene's contract (13 million per though 2016) contrasted against his production and health concerns make him a pretty terrible contract. Basically what Okafor was 2 years ago. And while I doubt the Wizards are entertaining the notion of dumping him or paying for the priveledge to dump him, I seriously doubt he's 'as untouchable as Wall', or Beal or Porter for that matter.

They are relying on Al Harrington to give them meaningful minutes.  Beyond Nene and Gortat, their big man rotation is questionable.  They are a team that could legitimately have a use for a guy like Brandon Bass as a mid-season trade acquisition.

Yeah, they do seem like a potential trade partner. Seraphin and Booker show promise, but they may need more consistency from the bench if they hope to make noise this year.

Wiz have a slew of expiring contracts to offer up. They recently declined team options on Vesely and Chris Singleton, plus they have Ariza to dangle.

It was reported that Washington said that Wall, Beal, and Nene were the three untouchable players when they had trade deadline negotiations about acquiring Josh Smith from Atlanta last season.  Maybe he's not quite as untouchable as Wall, but they really, really want to keep him.

If that sounds stupid, do you really have a hard time believing that the Wizards would do something stupid?

I don't think its stupid, they're trying to build a team to compete. You can't give away a big man rotation player without replacing him if you're doing that. Smith could have bolted in FA, so if they traded Nene + picks or whatever for him and Smith left they'd have no front court at all plus fewer assets to work with.

Now if you think trying to compete this year is dumb, I'm open to that line of thought.  But Nene's status with them is a function of their goals, not whether or not his contract is good or not.

I'm surprised. Nene's production fell off a cliff after he got injured. He'll always be a skilled offensive player, but his ability to challenge shots has gone down the drain fast.
