Sorry but I hate it. Jennings is terrible, Stucky and Villaneueva are dead weight and Jerebko isn't much more than a potential role player.

This.

I love Monroe but there's not enough value coming back from Detroit for me to move Rondo and 3 other proven NBA vets.  Jennings won't give you anything near what Rondo gives and the other 3 are dead weight.

Monroe is really a PF, not a C.  We already have Sully and KO as young PFs so I really don't want to add another one even if it is Monroe.

What people always seem to ignore when they mention Monroe is that he's in a contract year and he'll get PAID after this season. Trading off Rondo to acquire someone like Monroe who'll command a lot of money is not a good idea.

Oh, and Jennings just plain sucks, don't want him on the Celtics... one of the least players in the league I want to see in Green.

Monroe isn't a play I would be worried to Pay. He will be in line for the same 4yr 62mill that cousins just got.

People need to realize that in the NBA trades are not always about the actual players. Your opinion on jennings is yours and that's fine. However to use Stucky and Villunava and reason to dislike a trade is crazy. They would not be acquired to play for the celtics, but rather to become freed up cap space next year. Taking Green, Bass and Lee off the Cs books next year is a big move to the future.

Also want to add that this team might have the perfect makeup for Jennings to thrive. 3 above average passing big men will allow Jennings to score while the whole team creates open looks on offense.

I don't value Monroe high enough to be willing to give up Rondo for him.  I'd rather have Green than Jennings in the long run.

If I am looking to acquire a big man, I would prefer to look for a more defense-oriented guy than Greg Monroe.  Zach Lowe seems to really hate Monroe's defense.

Yeah, this is why I wonder if Monroe's future in the league is at C. You can "hide" him against less mobile bigs that way. If he's drawn out to the foul line or beyond by his man, he tends to get into trouble.

He's young enough, though, that hopefully he can avoid turning into Al Jefferson on D.

He's played C for pretty much his entire career already.

The question is whether or not he can play PF in my view, he's shown he's an okay to good C with the potential to be borderline all-star.

I do think the Al Jefferson comparisons are just to glaring in my view. Same sort of bad instincts and slow-footed nature on defense.

I agree: I think he's a good C that could be borderline all-star.

The failed adjustment to PF next to Drummond could also stem from the fact that Lawrence Frank may have been the first Pistons coach in recent years to actually try to coach, defense included. So it's unclear whether Monroe is a completely incapable defender at the 4, or whether he needs more time/practice.

Also, I dispute the conventional wisdom that Monroe is the one who'll be leaving Detroit should this season not go well. If Dumars could flip Josh Smith for expirings/picks/prospects, I think he'd do that, and go forward building around a Jennings/Monroe/Drummond core.

Do you dispute the conventional wisdom that if the season does not go well because Monroe and Drummond on the floor together causes problems so that it makes sense to trade one of them, that Monroe will be gone instead of Drummond?

I dispute that the cause of the problems for the Pistons will be the performance of Monroe and Drummond. It'll be Josh Smith in the lineup at SF.

I'd agree that of the two, the Pistons would trade Monroe before Drummond. That's a given.
