To Celts, Grainger, And Ian Maihinmi and a Pick.

To Pacers Bass, Lee, and Green.

I really believe the Pacers could win it all with this team.
 Grainger is always hurt.

 Hibbert
 David West
 Green
 Paul George
 George Hill

Bench Scola, Bass, Lance Stephenson, Copeland Wow.

Sounds stupid for the Pacers to include Mahinmi.  They need a solid backup center behind Hibbert.

No way the Pacers do that.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

Take out Mahimi and it isnt all that bad. Pacers get three good role players who have played with playoff caliber legends. Green is better than Granger just due to health reasons alone. We get a boatload of cap space due to Granger and Humphries expirings.

Puts us in complete tank mode but really isnt all that bad.

I'm not seeing how this is bad for Indy other than sending out a ok backup center.

Grainger is always hurt and their pick will be in the mid to high 20's.

Bass, Lee and Green would put them at the top of the conference -- especially since Lee can cover Wade/Ray while Bass and Green have shown to be as successful as anyone in covering Lebron.  Maihinmi won't do that for them.

They don't need more help in guarding LeBron or Wade; they already have Paul George headlining one of the top-ranked defenses in the league.  The entire reason they're such a good counter to the Heat is because of their size.  Mahinmi won't guard LeBron, but he'll patrol the paint.  Send him out without taking back another center, and you diminish one of their advantages.

Granger is a significantly better scorer than Green and that is what they need (Granger is also a better passer, better shot blocker, better steal generator, and they are similar rebounders).  And I'm confused where this notion that Granger is always hurt comes from.  Sure he only played 5 games last year, but aside from that he has been pretty darn healthy.  And it isn't like Granger is old as he is just 28.  Couple in their salaries and Granger is a far more valuable player than Green, and I don't think it is close.  The only way Green even sniffs Granger is if Granger doesn't recover from his injuries and regresses, something no one will really know until they really get going this year (the Pacers are being very cautious with Granger in the preseason, but he has played ok when out there).

Pacers eating too much long term salary. They need to pay for contract extensions to David West and Paul George in addition to Roy Hibbert's big salary and George Hill's midlevel money (plus maybe L.Stephenson). They can't take on that much (Bass, Green, Lee) extra payroll.

Mahinmi is very valuable to Indiana too. He has developed into one of the better backup centers in the league. Top ten borderline top five backup five. They need that quality to keep Hibbert's regular season minutes down and to keep their defensive integrity while Hibbert rests.

Drop Mahinmi and Bass from the deal and I think you would have something workable.

Maybe because Granger is already sitting out for the first three weeks of this season...And it hasnt even started yet.

Plus Granger is 30.

I don't think the Pacers would do that for Granger and his expiring alone.

I would be for it for Granger alone, I should say. Then buy out Granger.

Ok, no way the Pacers do anything like this. For the most part, their current roster is their guys for the next three years until West is no longer productive and expired. They just added Granger's salary to  Paul George's check stub bringing them right up to the LT.

Granger's expiring is most valuable to them. They're not going into the luxury tax for some role players.

I'm sticking by my wild guess that Rondo gets traded to the Pacers.  Some crap package like:

Boston sends:
Rondo + Lee (bad contract) + Bass (bad contract)
or...
Rondo + Wallace (bad contract)

Indiana sends:
Granger (expiring contract)
George Hill (maybe we can flip him to a 3rd team)
A couple scrub youngins like Solomon Hill and Lance Stephenson
+ a couple unprotected 1sts from Indiana (which would obviously be late 1sts)

Everyone will throw a fit here, but I think that's as good as it will get if Rondo is traded.

I think they hold on to Granger unless he is out for the season or plays so poorly that they won't want to bring him back next season if he was willing to play for $4-5 million/year.

I don't think they'll throw in Stephenson--they seem pretty set on making him their homegrown Sixth Man.
