In Amare Stoudemire And a first rounder.

 Out Humphries, Green, C. Lee.

For New York Humphries expires after this year, and it helps them win now, giving them at least a chance to compete in the now loaded east.

 Depth would be

 Tyson Chandler, K Martin
 Bargnani, Humphries, Melo
 Carmelo, Jeff Green
 Shumpert, JR Smith, Hardaway, Lee
 Felton, Prigioni

For the Celts We get rid of overpaid veterans that might help us win now. Danny tries to get Shumpert or Hardaway in this deal but fails. Amare would be a massive expiring contract next year. And that would give us ten first rounders in the next five years.

They already have Artest (MWP) backing up Melo, so i don't think Green should go in this. I actually had a similar thought to trade our expirings for Amare and a first rounder.

Hump, Bogans and Crawford/Lee would be a better deal if the Knicks want to drop salary from their roster.

I'm looking for the Celtics to make the playoffs in 2014-2015.  I want no part of Amare's contract.

The Knicks have traded their 2014 and 2016 picks, so the earliest first-round pick you can get from them is 2018.

Haha. How does this help the cause? We get rid of our "overpaid" veterans, who other than Humphries really arent overpaid at all, for the leagues BIGGEST overpaid veteran.

Rather have Humphires expiring than Stoudemires albatross.

I don't see the need to give up Humphries.

This trade I would do

Wallace, Lee, Bass

for

Amare

No need for a first round pick or any other value coming back to Boston.  The Knicks significantly improve their depth and get better fits all around and Boston shaves a year off the books in Wallace and Lee.  If need be other pieces can be added, but Amare is really the only bad salary the Knicks have.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

I think might sell or trade a few players to contenders late in the season if the deals are there that suit him.

Otherwise I kinda think he waits to see what kind of haul of players he might get in the draft

I don' t think more than 6 or 7 players. At most that are on. The current team will be back next year.

Next years team maybe the youngest team in the league overall.

The doctors are saying that Amare's minutes are going to have to be even more restricted this season than last year (23mpg, 29 games) in order to keep him healthy.

His situation seems much worse than I had realized last year. It's shame because he was very good in the minutes he played. Finally developed a post game. But I think any trade involving Amare is a non-starter until he proves he can stay healthy and play long minutes. Too big a health risk.

If we were to give up all that for close to completely washed up Amare I'd want the right to swap picks maybe in 2015 and 2017, and maybe at least a protected first rounder in 2018.

Agreed. And it's a bummer, because I quite liked healthy A'mare as a player.

But that dude fell apart in 2011, and hasn't shown any inclination that he can stay on the court.

I don't mind this trade if the Celtics could get a little building block.

The work on either the buy out or wait until Amare can no longer be on the court and get him to retire.

Agree that this trade really isnt too bad. Puts us in full tank mode, sheds our vets and allows the youngsters to run the show and, hopefully, increase their trade value.

Shumpert would be a great piece, but I think the Knicks like him too much.  But with Shump we'd be able to move Avery, or trot out a smothering Rondo-Avery-Shump group against smaller lineups.

But I'm definitely down with the overall idea of eating Amar'e's deal to lose some salary 2 years down the line.  It seems like a move that could benefit both teams.
