For some reason I wanted Oden to sign with the Celtics, but now after seeing Vitor, I am really happy he didn't.

What is your thoughts on Vitor. I don't think it's a fluke.

Encouraging but too early. Certainly better than Fab, better than an injured Shaq a few years back, and he appears to be better than some of other old or young stiffs Danny has brought to play center the past 8 or so years. Check the list of centers DA has brought in these past 8 years and besides Perk everyone else has pretty much sucked with no talent or being old and injured.

I am hopeful Fav is really as good as he looked last night when he faces some real talent but it's a nice start ....maybe DA finally found a "Center" - at least for a rebuild year.

He looks better than Jermaine and Rasheed but I thought Shaq was effective before he got hurt.  Vitor will have a more productive year and career than Oden, but at least Oden would have given us something fun to watch... a sideshow to distract from the poor basketball this year.  I would have liked Oden just for that reason.  I like rooting for him.

Most underrated stat in sports is games played.

Good chance he accomplishes passing oden in that sense, probably even in this season

Hey, Oden played yesterday. And he even had a dunk! There's a whole article on Y!Sports about the one basket he scored for his 4 minutes on the court.

Definitely vitor over oden. Oden took a century to dunk that ball and looks really slow out there

Agreed.

I'll give Faverani  an 82 game sample size before I start comparing him to Oden.

I am impressed so far with Vitor, but I want to see him go against some other top notch centers or mid tier ones

I need more sample size vs centers and power/centers like Howard, Bynum (healthy), Tyson Chandler, Chris Bosh

If Vitor matches the effort and occaisional highlights we got from Semih Erden and Greg Stiemsma I will be thrilled. The kid has got a lot of heart and is already a better shooter in the post than both of them against preseason competition.

Lets see where he is in February before we annoint him. That said, I would love to see him start and play 20-25 mpg for this team.

I can't wait to see him go up against Valanciunas next Wednesday.  It will be a good test for him in his first regular season game, but one I think he can pass.  If he does indeed pass that test against a young stud, it will go a long way towards continuing to build his confidence.

I wouldn't be surprised if he's already gone up against Jonas over in Europe.

I don't think anyone will anoint him, even after this year.  It's his 1st year in a new league, new country.

Develop him.  The upside is tremendous and all 3 rookies this year were great finds by Danny. Pressey, Olynyk, & Faverani all deserve significant minutes this year just for development reasons alone.  It's part of the rebuilding process.

We don't have to anoint anyone, just throw them out there and see what we have going forward.

I think we will, the question will be how long before the Celtic faithfull began to crucify them because of their season long growing pains.

Vitor all over slow Oden.   Vitor has little help to make him look good.....Oden had Lebron James drawing all the attention  and has his back .

Oden worthless on a bad team

Based on the small sample size that us fans have seen of Vitor, he appears to have some great potential.  I suspect Miami would be willing to trade Oden for Vitor straight up but both players have plenty of uncertainty attached to them.

Oden if healthy is probably the more talented player but is there a bigger IF anywhere in the NBA?  On the other hand, Vitor still has plenty to prove beyond a few good preseason games.  I see plenty to like so far but you just never know until he shows he can do it for real.

& that's the issue right there.  That's something vastly needed in this current situation.  For all players, including the big KO.

This project isn't a 1 year deal despite the better talent & assets Ainge has at his disposal this time around.
