Nice to see that level of respect, especially considering most of us thought we took him too high.  Hoping Kelly can become a solid piece for this team.

and to think danny wad almost crucified for trading up a couple of spots for KO. Olly will be an integral part of this team and once Rondo is back he is going to make KO look like an an star.

That's impossible, the CB authorities have spoken and have considered him a "nothing special" that will be lucky to get 5-6 minutes off the bench.

Meh, not trying to be a downer, but isn't this based off of summer league and like 5 preseason games?

I like Kelly but I always laugh when shorty after or immediately after the draft winners, losers, "steals", and "reaches" are determined.

Kyle Lowry, Dwayne Wade, 13th pick in even numbered rounds, 18th pick in odd numbered rounds.

It's limited data, but I put a lot more stock in a poll of GMs than some hack writer slapping together a list to make a deadline.  GMs aren't perfect but if someone impresses them as a group, that player usually has a pretty bright future.

If they were so impressed with him, why did they let him slip to 13?

Yeah, I agree.  To me this something to be happy about.  We wouldn't like it if somebody picked after KO won this poll, would we?

Because the draft is held before the summer league and preseason games.

GMs buys into hypes and rumors circling around the league. Sully with his back injuries that will cause him to retire early, Bradley's ankles, and now KO. Look at the people drafted in front of them and tell me how many of them are actually playing better? Maybe 3-4 were actually better players.

I believe that Sullinger was given this nod last year.

It would be interesting to see how much of a leash Danny has from the ownership compared to the GMs who passed on both of these players.

Full disclosure - 28% of the GM's polled felt KO was the steal of the draft. Roughly 8 out of 30.  That's nice, but it' not as overwhelming as the 76% of them who picked Miami to win the title, for example.

Any way to get a link?

I'd really like to see who the other choices were.

http://www.nba.com/news/2013-14-nba-gm-survey/index.html?ls=iref:nbahpt13a

Which rookie was the biggest steal at where he was selected in the Draft?

1. Kelly Olynyk (13), Boston -- 27.6%

2. Ben McLemore (7), Sacramento; Nerlens Noel (6), Philadelphia -- 13.8%

4. Steven Adams (12), Oklahoma City; Giannis Antetokounmpo (15), Milwaukee; Trey Burke (9), Utah -- 6.9%

Olynyk also came in #5 for "best rookie in 5 years", though that appears to just require 2 out of 29 votes (can't vote for own players).
