lol

This guy is going to be so exposed. Does anyone here think Doc Rivers is going to win a championship in LA?
I am calling it here now. The Clippers will not win a championship with Doc Rivers as HC unless he gets an assistant of Thibs Caliber to help him win.

He's a really good coach.  I don't know if they'll win a title, but they should be a pretty elite team.

Who is the third member of the big three?  Surely not DeAndre.

I don't see it with that team.  They're dangerous, but I wouldn't label them as high-level contenders.  Not elite on either side of the ball, and I'll believe they have a half-court offense when I see it.

problem is Doc is trying to duplicate what he had in Boston. He is trying to catch lightning in a bottle again. Not exactly what I would expect in an enterprising coach.

Doc's entitled to whatever opinion he may have. He's in Cali now, coaching the Clips.

... is there something wrong with noting that he has three core players in Paul, Griffin, and Jordan?  Not seeing what's so silly with this comment.

"LOL HE THINKS THERE ARE THREE PLAYERS THAT ARE MOST CRITICAL TO HIS TEAM"

 ???

They are a good playoff team, as currently constructed I do not believe they are a championship team.

"Big Three" implies that Doc believes the three core players on his current team are on par with the trio he had in Boston, or the trio in Miami, or the trio in San Antonio.

Deandre Jordan is just not nearly on the same level as any of the other players in those groupings.

Big 3 just refers to the core of any given team.  The Wizards have a Big 3 of Wall, Beal, and Nene - that doesn't mean they're on the same level of Miami's Big 3.

And it's relative: he's saying those three guys are as important to the Clippers as the three most important players on any other team.  It's not absolute, i.e. "my Big 3 are as good as the other Big 3s in the league."

It's similar to how a team designates a specific player as their cornerstone by giving them a max deal.  Wall isn't as good as Durant, but to the Wizards, he's just as important as Durant is to the Thunder.  The max deal isn't meant to say "we think you're as good as other people who've gotten max deals," just "we feel you're as important to this team as other max players are to their own respective teams."

Like I said before, it looks like people overanalyze anything Doc says just to find more reasons to hold a grudge against the guy.  It's very ex-boy/girlfriend-ish.

  I don't think they're a coach away from winning a title.

Can you imagine Thibs talking about Boozer being part of Chicago's Big 3?  Would he ever talk about his team in those terms?  Stuff like "Big 3" is appropriate when you've got 3 elite level players who are the heart and soul of your team.

The Clippers don't have a Big 3.  They've got at most a Big 2 and a team like that needs to play differently than one with a Big 3.

Aside from the fact that Boozer's already hit his peak, has an insane contract, and has largely been a disappointment in Chicago, no, I can't see Thibs doing that because that's not in Thibs' nature.  We know Doc likes to pump up his players.  There were threads recently mocking Doc for hyping up Jordan's physical capabilities.  Now it's surprising to see Doc building up Jordan's confidence by calling him a part of his Big 3?  What is the issue here?  Is it really that hard to see he's trying to make his guys confident?  Is Doc supposed to completely shun Jordan in favor of calling Griffin and Paul the Big 2, further ostracizing a guy who was very publicly nearly traded away a few months ago?

It doesn't have to do with the coach. Has to do with overrated team and stars.

They should be worried about winning a game in the second round if they get there.

Everyone's just waiting for this team to be elite but Blake Griffin is horrendously overrated and Chris Paul isn't even close to a lebron james type
