In the last 10 years my favorite player has been KG.  I love everything he represents - the effort, the intensity, the unselfishness, the leadership, the defense (ive always been a defensive minded player myself) and his overall game...I just think he's an amazing page and person. I never liked Boston as a team until KG came over.  Never liked Paul Pierce much either.  Since KG c and I've watch every game, followed the Celtics every season.  Got a new found respect for other Celtics players like Pierce and Rondo, guys who just personify the word "warrior".

Now KG is in New Jersey with Paul Pierce, and I believe both if those guys got ripped off of a couple of rings by the basketball gods while they were in Boston.  These guys only have one year, maybe two, to earn the additional rings that I believe they deserved to get in Boston, but never did.

Even tho those guys are gone I still follow the Celtics.  I still root for the young guys like Sullinher, Rondo, Bradley, Olynyk, etc.  I love those guys and I will file then over their entire careers here.  That said, this group of guys will not win a title this year, or prob even next year.  The next time they compete for a title, Pierce and KG will probably be retired.  Plus these guys are all young and have many years and opportunities ahead.

See, NJ are probably the only team ok  the East that I think is better on paper than the Heat right now.  The Nets can knock off the Heat, but it will be harder for them to do that I f t he Celtics beat them.  The Celtics have no chance of knocking of the Heat in the playoffs or competing for a title,, so yes I probably will root for the nets for the next year out two uhh nfkl the big two are gone and/or the Celtics have a shot a t a deep playoff run.

Why not?  Pierce and KG gave their everything for this team for years only to get traded off for draft pics.  If they become a great team and dominate, I will be happy for them. If Boston beats the nets I'll be equally happy.  I'm rooting for both teams right now.

Still it would be fun to watching this young Celtic's team step up and 'upset' the Heat or Nets late in the spring this year. Imagine these forums the next day after.  ;D

How can you believe that we had to rebuild NOW because the team had no chance of beating Miami and then entertain the ridiculous fantasy that this group of mediocre players can do anything beyond a game upset here and there?

I will root for pierce to do well and I will root for the nets to beat the heat, lakers, or knicks when they play those teams.  other than that, I am indifferent.

I've watched Pierce play for 15 years. If you take out Rondo there aren't many players left who really made me want to watch the Celtics. I am going to root for the Celtics but I reserve the right to watch and cheer for the Nets. This should shock or disappoint you

So you are saying we should celebrate if we 'upset' a .500 team in 2014 ?  ;D

Gosh, I mean it was just a little fun fantasy. I think all the adults in the room know the real upsets will be few and far between (if at all) this year.

My prediction:  most fans will be upset if we beat the Sixers, in the true spirit of Tankfest 2013-14.

  • Another undersized Celtic...
Despite what the Jersey says, I still see Pierce and KG as Celtics (especially Paul).
That being said, it is easy to root for the Nets because of them. It doesn't make me less of a Celtics fan.
