You're a fan of the game and you're a fan of the team.

Celtics aren't going anywhere in the near future. What's wrong in cheering for ex-Celtics? Especially when their names are Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett?

The Captain deserves more than one ring. So does KG. I hope they get them....be it in Brooklyn or Boston.

Love KG & Pierce, but I'm actually rooting for the Nets to lose. Not during the playoffs, where I want them to win it all, but in the regular season. Why? Let's not forget we have their #1 pick this year, so the more losses the better the pick. This should be the mindset of most C's fans.

So a perfect situation would be for them to have injuries throughout the year, coupled with Kidd holding out KG and Pierce on back to backs and playing them limited minutes regardless. This would have the duo  purpose of keeping them fresh and giving our pick better value. As reference, last year the Hawks finished 6th and had the #17 pick. In this loaded draft that is a very nick pick to have.

Hope they lose every game that's not against the clippers or heat .   Want there draft pick to best position possible for us .

Playoff.....well I lll  hope they go all the way .........only for KG and Paul's sake, other wise I don't care for nets at all.

If ownership and management are rooting for ping pong balls, why shouldn't fans?

And what's wrong with appreciating a couple of Celtics greats, and hoping for their success?

I think that some fans have acted a little self-righteous with the "I root for the name on the front of the jerseys" stuff.  First, I'm skeptical that anybody can actually root solely for laundry, without any regard for the players who wear it.  Second, I remember the games leading up to the Duncan and Oden/Durant lotteries, and I'm predicting that a lot of the "I bleed green, and only green" folks will be changing their tunes.

To clarify, we have the worse of the Nets and Hawks picks this year.  So, make sure you're rooting for Atlanta to lose, too!

I despise the Heat so much that I'm not sure how much happier I would be with the Cs beating them than the Net w/ KG + Pierce.

I am definitely going to enjoy watching Pierce and KG still playing together but am a little worried about Jason Kidd at the helm. Getting that cast of players all on the same page is going to be no easy task. I wonder if Phil would have wanted that job now that Pierce and KG are there...

I'm assuming no one is trading teams.

Otherwise in a realistic sense there's no reason not to root for the Nets in my opinion. By far I'd rather want Pierce and KG tonget another championship over any other team (yes minus celts) and they only have like 2 years left or so and when they leave ill go back tonhating thenets.

Also the whole rooting for nets also has a lot to do with hatred of Miami

Danny's slimy treatment of PP and KG was shocking and disappointing to me, a 50+ year Celtic fan.  In my opinion, and Red's daughter's, the treatment of PP (more a true Celtic than anyone in the current organization) was not what the Celtic's organization stands for and I am still angry enough that I have trouble watching the crap result.  I hope to get over it some day but may have to wait until Danny Ainge is fired.

As a 10 year Celtics fan I am glad to hear a 50+ year fan feel the same way I do.

Did you read red's daughter's comments.  Was un-Celtic like to shove aside a player whose number will be retired and has more Celtic cred than those making the trade.  Also not everyone agrees on the rebuild so don't be shocked and disappointed that people find the Brooklyn Celtics interesting and the rebuild painful.

I found this a little disingenuous by Ms. Auerbach:

Quote
"If it was for Chris Paul, maybe. We got nothing [for Pierce and Garnett]. You don't trade laterally, and we didn't even get laterally. But I hope it works. Nothing would give me more pleasure than to be wrong."

I don't agree with her sentiment that the Celtics got nothing in return. Also, I find it interesting that, despite her criticism, she basically agrees that Red would have made the trade given the quality of the return. If Ainge eventually spins those assets into a "Chris Paul" type player, does that mean she's OK with the deal?

I agree that it was painful to see Pierce and KG go. I look forward to a day when both return to Boston as free agents, even if in a purely symbolic sense just before retiring.
