Carmelo Anthony said that he will opt out and be a free agent after this season. Does anyone else think he will be a Laker next summer? I do
C/PF-Horford, Baynes, Noel, Theis, Morris,
SF/SG- Tatum, Brown, Hayward, Smart, Semi, Clark
PG- Irving, Rozier, Larkin

If he opts out and LA has the cash, I'd be stunned if he doesn't go there.  He's very into himself from what I've seen and LA's the place to be for those types of players.

Although, Dwight is that type of player and he bolted LA.  Playing with Kobe isn't necessarily a positive.

With the Lakers finishing in the lottery and with New York having a reasonably strong around Carmelo, I don't like the Lakers chances of prying Melo away from NYC.

I think staying in New York is the most likely option.

I think this is much ado about nothing.  He is going to opt out so he can get one more max, full bird rights contract.  I would be absolutely shocked if he leaves the Knicks.

Yeah, unless the Knicks completely fall apart he's staying to get the biggest contract possible from them.

They've turned over everything to his agency and to cater to him overall. They even had Woodson fire his agent and sign up with Carmelo's group, CAA I believe.

Had the Lakers kept Dwight I could easily have envisioned Melo bolting for LA.  Without Dwight, I'm not sure I see it.

Unless, of course, both Bron and Melo decide to team up in LA.  Talk about worst nightmare for C's fans.

I dont see Melo leaving NYC. I think he fits the NYC scene more so than the LA scene. He would be silly not to opt out and completely cash in to what the potential allows.

I'd go with pretty surprised, there's too much of a knucklehead factor involved to go with shocked.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
I've said before that I can easily see him coming to Boston to play with Rondo.
He wants Rondo on the Knicks. If the Knicks can't get him there then perhaps we can get him here.
Melo and Rondo and Aldridge or love would be Naaaaaasstttyyyyy. Surround them with three point shooters and a defensive big.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

I don't think LeBron and Melo would work very well at all. They'd contend because they had LeBron, but man talk about diminishing returns...

would be very nice, but i really don't see it happening. Rondo-Melo-Aldrige would absolutely fit together, but you would have to have 2 very good defensive players at the 2 and 5. Melo and Aldridge arent exactly known for their D.

Melo + Rondo = makes no sense. Melo gums up an offense pretty bad. What is Melo going to do while Rondo is running offense? Probably just stand at 3 point line or elbow calling for iso.
