First trade: Chicago needs PG insurance and Bass doesn't help them with anything with Boozer and Gibson on the roster.  They've got Mike James now, but they might be more interested in trading away Teague than Hinrich since they're trying to win sooner than later and Teague requires some more development.

Moranis' trade: Boozer isn't a center and Nene prefers playing PF more so than center.  Washington doesn't do it, especially considering they've already got a glut of power forwards.  As stated, Chicago has no need for Bass, though Lee might be useful as a backup or even replacement for Jimmy Butler if they go through with trading Deng and slide Butler over to the 3.
Washington doesn't have a glut of PF's and Nene is fine at center in today's NBA.  With Okafor always being hurt and Washington really needing an interior scorer I think they would at least consider this trade, of course I think Chicago might be more inclined to just do the trade straight up.

Jerebko is a PF.  Nene is a PF.  Seraphin is a PF.  Harrington is a PF.

And I didn't say Nene can't work at C; I said he prefers playing PF.  His own words.  He doesn't like the physical play center requires.
Nene would play center if they brought in Boozer as for the rest of those guys, they aren't very good.  Boozer is without question the best player of that group (aside from Nene who would play center).

... which Nene doesn't like playing.  That's my point - you're forcing Nene to play a position at which he doesn't really feel comfortable, at least compared to PF.  Washington's looking for a true center, not to force Nene out of position so they can take on yet another power forward.  Also, let's not forget that Nene himself has a history of injuries, so forcing him to do more banging in the low post isn't exactly ideal.

Thibideau would quit before he takes Bass on his team. Bass couldn't be more antithetical to how This has run his team with smart defense and great rebounding. At least Boozer makes up for his poor defense by being a great rebounder, passer and an-above scorer. What the heck does Bass do besides shoot mid-range? I don't think Bass would get any burn.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
Not sure if Chicago needs him and dont think we need Kirk. He makes us better. This is a move if we want to have a beyter shot at the playoffs & there is the potential to showcase Hinrich and pqckage him for assets later- I just think that we will achieve the same goal by simply moving Bass.

It's pretty much a wash trade and if wiuld have been great if our roster was slightly different and it was 15 months in the past.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

See, this is what I was getting at when I said Boozer to Washington was a bad idea:

Hinrich is too old for us and the Bulls don't need Bass. Hinrich is a good player for the Bulls to have imo
