Can Vitor play?

I really like this guy. I keep telling myself he has mostly played against bench and D league or roster cut fodder. I still like him, the grin, the haircut and especially the effort.

IS it ridiculous to think he should get a chance against the starters or is it too soon? Are we just bring him along slowly and he will gradually get more time?

I would like to see this guy in the rotation.

Probably just wishful thinking.

I think he's still learning the NBA game and thats why he's not starting yet. Will he be as good against starters? Who knows, but you can tell he has a good feel for the game. He's tough and doesn't mind contact, actually looks for it!

I like to see them use him a little more in the offense to see what he can do. If he can pick and pop like KG did that would be a huge pick up. This guy sets some nasty screen, guys run into him and look dazed for a second. Its awesome!

Also the thing about most foreign players is that they are usually fundamentally sound, which will always give an advantage in this league, especially with bigs.

I have Bass or Humphries starting with Sully until KO's ready to take that spot (which could be very, very soon). But Vitor has a chance to be the first big off the bench in some situations, and as the year goes on, he may also start with Sully against some of their bigger and tougher opponents.

He can play.   He is an effort guy who bangs.   He has some skills.   He is 25 but has been a pro for 11 years overseas.   I peg him as a good backup center not a starter in terms of ability.

One thing I noticed about Stevens.   Performance does not affect playing time at least in the preseason.    Babb lights up NYC and almost gets a DNP next game.   Same is true of Vitor.   He played well against NYC first game and me and my son were awaiting him against Philly.    But Vitor and Babb did not get rewarded for playing hard and sat quite a while.

He is a good energy player with massive length. He needs to work on his body a bit more though. He could use a little more strength and stamina

With the good ole caveat that it's pre-season, Faverani's vanilla stats so far have been darn good.



That's double figures per 36. What does that mean? I dunno, the eyes are probably more important than the numbers at this point, but this guy's looking like quite the unpolished gem right now.

Odd, the Spurs who are usually so good at mining the non-us players, didn't see any room for him...I don't know what their cap situation is, but their loss, the Celts gain (so far....I remember Dwayne Schintzius having some good preseason games back in the day, didn't Darko look good for a few days too?)

He can't speak English. He'll probably be used a bit less often until he learns a few more things.

It's important your players to talk to one another during the game and I think centers need to to especially vocal since they typically see more than guards (like when a pick is coming, ect.)

Vitor will play in due time.

He reminds me of Ronny Turiaf, and not in a bad way.  I like him.  I think he is what he is, but he seems like a nice role player.

The thing about these International players is that the Spurs were ahead of most of the league for a long while, but not so much anymore. I think Danny may have offered more or done a better sell for playing time as well.

The English barrier shouldnt be too bad, but he does need to talk on Defense.

A career as a solid back up bangin center who can spot start would probably suit Vitor just fine. He has already made it obvious he likes to mix it up inside. An enforcer type is something we can use and I dont think he will ever by too expensive.

The two things Turiaf and fav have in common is energy and willimg to bang down low.

Fav is a better runner and has massive length. Imo he reminds me more of a pj brown, joakim noah type

He'll be a very good role player.. Good BB IQ, tough, a bit athletic.. Just need to improve on his stamina, I guess..

Pressey and Vitor and Olynyk all look like very good moves on Danny's part this summer. That is good, because he has a lot of making up to do for last year, other than Sully, and a couple of bad drafts.

I don't see him as the barrel-chested people mover that Pekovic is.  Peko might be the most bruising center in the NBA right now. 

Faverani's length and mobility give him a bit more upside than Peko as an overall defensive player.  I like his hands and touch around the basket, though he hasn't really showcased any move down there.  Good selective aggression though - I like the fact that he'll put the hammer down when he gets an opportunity.  I'd rather see that jumpshot disappear for a while, unless he can actually shoot a lot better than it appears right now. 

Edit:  I agree that a poor man's Noah is an interesting comp for him.  That one makes a lot of sense.
