What evidence does this party have against Perkins? I need to know wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy more before I pass judgement. For all we know this group is just looking for a little cash flow. This case has already been dismissed once...

Speaking for only myself, calling someone who is a celebrity an idiot for being party to any kind of confrontation that would trigger such a report isn't 'having something against them', it's just merely stating facts.

Edit: Yeah misread your post. Coupled with the meme above I kinda glazed over the part where you said 'this party' and not 'you guys'

The article states "Perkins and his brother-in-law have been charged when the case was re-filed after being dismissed initially,"  And this originally happened back in July (it says this if you go to KHOU.com article).

Does the fact that the this happened about 3 months ago, and was originally dismissed, mean anything?  Is that out of the ordinary, or is that typical?

Also from the KHOU.com article:
Quote
Catherine McGrue, who was in the car with the Cottons, said Alpough struck her in the throat with his elbow, knocking her unconscious.

All three victims say a group of people then kicked them repeatedly while they were lying on the ground.

Ja’Keenan Cotton recognized Perkins and Alpough, according to court documents.

At least one witness backed up their story.

Alpough is Perkins brother-in-law for those wondering.

Unconscious from an elbow shot to the throat?  How likely is that without something else happening after the fact (like elbow to the throat, then I stumble, and hit my head on the ground, knocking me unconscious?)  Can you really knock somebody unconscious with just an elbow shot to the throat?

I like how the first 2 quoted paragraphs from the SI article talk about the female Cotton.  Then the third paragraph introduces a male Cotton, but then decides to switch back to the female Cotton for the last sentence without telling us.  Not confusing at all.

After 18 months with their Bigs, the Littles were: 46% less likely to use illegal drugs, 27% less likely to use alcohol, 52% less likely to skip school, 37% less likely to skip a class

Yeah the writer did a very poor job of introducing the parties involved. They used last names as though they were already mentioned earlier in the article. Very confusing.

Eh, I don't know if I'd say idiot.  A celebrity can't really go anywhere without the risk of some kind of confrontation.  A celebrity can do absolutely nothing (which may be exactly what Perkins did) and still be accused.  Especially since people know if they start something with you, they can get paid.

I mean what started all this was a fender bender.  If it's Perkins car, you're supposed to get out and exchange insurance info and assess the damage and what not right?

But Perkins is trying to keep a low profile, stays in the car, then the women start fighting.  Reluctantly he gets out of the car to break up the fight.  Then this happens:

That's possible, right?

Just based on what we have so far, he was in a public place and a fight broke out, doesn't mean he's an idiot in my opinion (I mean there's a decent chance he is, but we can't be certain of it).  While not a good headline, I don't know if "Kendrick Perkins cousin beaten to death as Perkins sits idly by and watches" is any better.  Unless you wanted him to pull an Alexian Lien.

It has to be a made up story because everyone knows that nba players never connect when they throw punches.

Whoever wrote that piece makes it sounds like a ridiculous scenario. Backing into each other then all hell breaks loose?  Something just doesn't add up there based what is written.

Now I'm not saying that something didn't happen here, either.  I just think there is a big piece missing based on what was written.  Sounds like you went from A to C with skipping B.

My own youthful experience had a few incidents that went from A to C skipping B...alcohol was usually involved.

That is the norm these days at 2am as a night club gets out in a city.  Even in smaller cities like Springfield or Worcester I've seen this kinda stuff happen.  It's gets even uglier than described in this story.

Yeab exactly. Sometimes very little alcohol. Also other drugs like coke probablt wouldn't be uncommon at a night club and cause for some irrational decisions
