The Celtics interior defense needs improvement and alot of fast breaks start with defensive rebounds and blocked shots.

Orton would have 6 fouls to smack the likes of Wade and LeBron around when they charge in the paint...Also, who is going to go up against the likes of Dwightmare and Cousins?

If Stevens can get through to Rondo, he can get through to Orton. That's what he was hired for - to motivate a 23 year old with alot of potential.

I think signing a player to vet min contract puts the Cs over the luxury tax. Other then that I would be interested in the Cs bringing in Orton.

no thanks.

We already got Fav

The only extra player the celts will consider signing next is a 3 point specialist like Babb. Or if a team waives a gem. Not Orton

Surely, we can move one of our many SG or PF to make room. Faverani looks OK but honestly the Celtics could use another high potential center.
I read that and had a good laugh.  what the C's could really use is a center (or any player besides Rondo) that has REALIZED their potential.

We've got enough young players with potential (and some not so young --> Jeff Green).  what we need are players that are productive and not banking on potential to be considered valuable.

Celtics need another center...Brad Stevens is good with kids...according to Rotoworld:

"He was terrific in his 18.0 minutes of action in Orlando, averaging 12.0 points, 5.0 boards, 1.0 steals and 1.7 blocks on 66.7 percent shooting in three games. The Thunder are dangerously close to the luxury-tax threshold and have three other centers, which suggests that there's just no room for Orton. His impressive showing may have him latch on with another team."
Really...

If the Celtics are not interested in potential then it looks like they have 9 1st round draft picks in the next 5 years for nothing.

Its called rebuilding and Doc has left the building.

Centers are not cheap.  Look at OKC who will spend $36M over four years for Perkins, who averaged 4.2 points and 6 rebounds last year - and this year he's off to a not so good start.

People rave over Olynyk's summer league but he really is not nearly physical enough to man the center position.
Everyone wants truth on his side, not everyone wants to be on the side of truth.

I agree, the Celts need to give Orton a chance.

You know the funny thing is if Danny Ainge actually signed a decent center and point guard, the Celts would actually be a decent team this year.

Guarantee they wouldn't be any worse than they were last year.

It's not rocket science. Not sure why DA doesn't see that ???

they waived Orton because Coach Brooks kept confusing him for Russell Westbrook.  Brooks would get excited for .05 seconds until he realized how big, fat and slow Orton is and that it wasn't actually Westbrook.

At this stage the target is potential > productivity. Its a hard pill to swallow after this run of contention but its what it will take to contend again.

Orton has been playing well for maine as of late. Some games he is scoring 20 plus points, pulling down 15 rebounds with 3 blocks

He is deceptively quick, athletic for a guy his size. Wide shoulder and 6'10 270 pounds, with 7'5  wingspan

Now is a good time to give him a 10 day contract and see what he can do imo. Waive anthony as he has no future with the team.

Orton looks distractingly like Russell Westbrook.
At least a goldfish with a Lincoln Log on its back goin' across your floor to your sock drawer has a miraculous connotation to it.

I don't see how Orton would have any positive impact in our immediate or long term future.

Anthony has a $3.8 million option for next year. If the Celtics waive him now, they'd be on the hook for that money as well (there's no reason why Anthony would pass up the free money that would come with a release).
