A Clippers-Nets Final

I'd root for the Nets, no question.

1.) Pierce & KG both get a much deserved second ring.
2.) LOL at the Knicks.
3.) I'm from Brooklyn, so I have soft spot for them.
4.) A part of me wants to see Prokhoriv pull it off.

It is pretty funny how people including myself were mocking the nets owner when he guaranteed a championship in 5 years.

Then he made the moves last year and I thought those were pretty sad moves. Now added KG and Pierce and  its kinda like alrighty then can't argue anymore.

Yeah, I remeber saying the same thing myself. Never would have thought that their big move was taking our 2 best guys

I guess it's selfish, but I don't want a championship with Brooklyn to be part of KG and Pierce's legacy.  Anything that takes away from people remembering them as "Celtics for life" upsets me

i don't care if doc wins a title elsewhere.  He's a good coach.  Boston is probably lotto bound for the next half decade... Doc's ongoing legacy as a coach doesn't upset me as much as kg and piece winning elsewhere and having a second Title together as special as the one they won in 2008

For me its not about rooting against Doc, two different reasons.

1. Doc will have more chances as he can coach till he's 70 if he really wants (and health holds up)

2. I'm more attached to KG/Pierce (players in general) than to coaches.

I'm more attached to KG and Pierce too... which is why I don't want to see them win a title elsewhere.  I'm selfish.  It would be like rooting for an ex girlfriend to win a beauty pageant. 

Ray Allen, for example.  History will remember him as much for hitting the greatest 3 pointer in NBA history (Finals last year with Miami) as much as anything he did with Boston.  He's already historically as much a Miami Heat for life as he is a Celtic.

KG and Pierce winning one in Brooklyn at this age probably would be just as sweet to them as winning one in Boston.  History would remember the old dogs pulling it off... it would be huge for the state of New York and Brooklyn.  Those guys would be living legends there.   All of that takes away from their legacy here.  Boston (especially for KG) will be more like one of the pit stops on the way to their glorious careers.

Also, it would irritate a lot of fans who didn't want to see this team blown up.  A lot of frustration will boil over... people comparing Deron Williams to Rondo and asking themselves, "Man couldn't we have added a piece or two and won?"... it will add to the belief that Boston brutally underachieved during the KG era.  And while Rondo is leading a team to the lotto you'll see endless threads about, "We gave away our two best players way too early... shoulda traded Rondo instead".  It will stink.  I don't want to see it.   

Nets no question. After all the controversy Doc made this summer, I'm just giving up on him. Pierce never stopped talking about how good of a place Boston was to him. KG was quiet about it but it's KG. Definitely rooting for those two more than Doc.

Since when do we expect players and coaches to act the same?  Pierce was the face of the franchise and left a whole bunch of people that bought his jersey, drove through Boston traffic to watch him play, chanted MVP for him, remained loyal to him as he declined even though he asked for a trade, cheered for his team even as they lost game 6 to the Heat, etc.

The coach on the other hand is just seen as another employee that takes blame for the losses and doesn't receive any credit when they win.  Boston fans gave Pierce 1000 times more than Doc, who by the way was a Hawk when the Celtics dominated the conference.

One of my favorite moments as a celtics fan was Doc finally getting the gatorade shower, he deserved every piece of praise he got. But that has nothing to do with my post.

Doc - thank you for what u did in BOS.

But if BKN/Clips meet in June, I really hope (and expect) to see BKN take Clips out back to the shed and give them an old-fashioned beat-down.

And they could very well do that, especially up front.

A Brook Lopez, Andray Blatche, Reggie Evans frontline, lead by KG, will (IMO) over-power the Clips....I just don't think they'll match up well with BKN.

And that's not even taking into account that whoever LA throws at Paul Pierce will have their hands FULL, lol..

Only time I don't root for Brooklyn to win a game in this upcoming season, is when they are playing against the Celtics.

And even then, its one of those "you can't even be mad" things.

LarryBird33 makes some good points for not wanting to see Brooklyn win a title.  That said, I'm pretty sure I'll be rooting hard for the Truth and KG once the playoffs start (as long as they aren't playing the Celtics, of course).

Any success they may have there won't be able to take away from what they've done for the Boston Celtics as far as I'm concerned. 

As far as the Clippers go, I'm no Doc basher; I had the utmost respect for him while he was here and still do, but it's just not the same.  It's hard to become as emotionally attached to a coach.

Firstly I doubt that would ever happen.  Clippers aren't a title team, especially if their hopes for a title bank in DJ becoming an elite center.

If it DID happen then Brooklyn of course is a no brainer.  Pierce and KG have battled on the front lines for this Celtics team for years, fought through injuries and given us everything they have every single season.  Doc is but a coach, and one who and out and got his wish.  Brooklyn will destroy the Clippers if they meet...they a r e just too big, too skilled, too experienced.

Given that Boston has an unprotected pick from the Clippers in 2015, I would much rather see the Clippers fail and faile miserably.  I realize next year is not 2015, but if they win in 2014 I imagine they would land pretty solid free agents on the cheap during that summer which would make them better in 2015.  Brooklyn on the other hand is older and has a much smaller window and Boston doesn't get the firsts until 2016 which is later.

Plus, Doc is **** and I wouldn't mind Pierce picking up another ring.

I don't agree, I think your first holds more weight. Especially given how long it took and how much they had to go through to get it. I don't know what it will mean as far as history goes but to them, I bet their first is more important to them.

I don't want either of them to make it far into the playoffs, I want them both to get bounced on the 1st round.

As much as I love KG and PP, I love the Celtics more. If we can turn those draft picks into good players, I'm all for it.

What does one have to do with the other? I get it if they meet in the playoffs, but it's pretty safe to say we will not be playing more than 82 games this season.

I'll be rooting for Nets all season, maybe even for our 4 games against them (wins won't help us).
