celtics practice lineups

Sun practice game lineup was

Green team
Pg- ab , sg- jcraw, sf- green, pf- bass, c- hump, 6th man - bogans, fav

White team
Pg- pressey, sg-lee, sf-wallace, pf-oly, c-sully, 6th man- brooks

My thoughts

- i like the balanced design of each team. You have one guard that can handle the ball(jcraw, pressey), you got one point fwd(green, olynyk) and one guy who can rebound (hump, sully).

- i like the sully and oly upfront pairing. Ainge saw something in the beginning and stevens also looks like is seeing something, or potential for something.

- i do think we will see each of these units stick together for the first couple of pre season games. Who starts who comes off the bench doesnt matter. But i think there are some pairings that are likely to be more of a long thing for the rest of the year. We can also expect balance in the lineup meaning likely no sully and hump pairing or ab and lee pairing(unless ab has improved ball handling or for defensive purposes)

Surprised to see Crawford ahead of Brooks?  That was one position battle I was looking forward to seeing.  I thought Brooks would take it.

Practice isn't over yet. Brooks may yet get a shot.

As of right now, Crawford is just a better player than Brooks.  We will see if Brooks improves going forward but Crawford is a solid rebounder and passer and shoots a better percentage from three.

On a team that may struggle to create shots (especially without Rondo) I think Crawford will be useful.

The Bradley - Crawford pairing is interesting.  Crawford has some talent but to me is a little wild and perhaps not consistent enough to be counted on as a starter.  Great off the bench potentially though.

I think the battle is probably between Lee and Crawford for the starting (or finishing) spot.  I suppose Brooks could be in the mix too but I would think he is behind Lee and Crawford.  Going in, I would have expected Lee to win this but maybe Crawford will be a surprise.

Crawford has the upper hand for now just based on experience and play making ability. Not sure Brooks has been able to pick up his defense. Also needs a 3pt shot. Was hoping Brooks would also bulk up some; but no dice. Puzzled by some of these guys who only superficially mimic another player (like Kobe). Brooks clearly needs to take it to the next level; but has not shown the ability to do that.

Brooks mind ia not quick. Might be at odds to play alot this year.

Bogans is a utility guy and doesnt bring much skills to the table

No surprise I guess to see Bass starting at the PF with his experience level. I expect to see some lineups with Wallace at the 4 with the same starters and some with Olynyk in place of Humphries.

I just have to question having two undersized guys in Humphries and Bass playing together but I guess it may be the same with Sullinger and either of the two.

I cant wait to see the OP's listed units on the floor together so we will know what to expect. I think Wallace has an excellent chance to be our 6th man along with Lee as the 7th until Rondo comes back. Then the rotations will be adjusted to put guys out there that he can help maximize performance like Sullinger IMO.

While we tank this season, I expect lots of showcasing minutes for Bass, Humph and Wallace... and lots of disgrunted fans who want to see more from Oly and SUlly.  It'll be like when Danny forced Doc to play minutes to Blount over Big Al.

olynyk can handle the ball better than most powerforwards but he is by no means a point forward lol

Wow.  My least favorite Celtic - Crawford -  to start tonight.

Don't know where the "good passer" myth is comming from.  He makes horrible decisions both,  shooting and passing.   Maybe he got better this summer, we'll see.
