Players that stood out tonight

Sullinger (regular season form already and glad he is back)
Crawford (decent pg capabilities)
Wallace (regular season form, his jump shot is on the reliable side now)

Disappointing performance

- Green (still on vacation?? No dunk, no 3 point fg)
- AB (horrible PG capabilities still. At this rate, no way Danny resigns him to anything worthwhile)
- Bass (without the big four, limitations really show)

Next game i'd love to see Pressey get a chance. Hoping for better things from Olynyk

He had 1 dunk. LOL

Bradley is still god-awful at playing the point, but defense is superb

Sullinger is simply amazing at those rebounds

Green is ok, but it's preseason, so he didn't play much

KO had some nice assists too

sad but Humphries played well

we should be able to get something for wallace and humphries, think they had just had a bad year last year they should have some value. Main positive, but yeah this year will definitely be a rebuilding year, expect plenty of L's

Liked the defense. It's nice having a couple of bigs who can pass. One thing to keep in mind folks..until tonight there was no video available on this team.  Once opponents have some and start to study it, they'll try to take away what we seem to do well and then the absence of a PG will stick out like a sore thumb.

Still, I think there are some guys on the current roster who can be part of a very good team, but there's still a LONG way to go.

I like this team we have. Despite tha loss, I think this team played well. With tha right rotations this team won't be as bad as some think. I was very impressed. I was impressed by our running and passing. Sully and Olynyk will be one hell of a combo going forward. We have some good passing big men and I liked tha unselfish play that was displayed tonight. This team showed encouraging signs.

I really didn't/don't know how to feel about Wallace (and Humphries) as a Celtic but he played a decent game today. If he can play his game on a consistent basis he may be worth his contract.

My only disappointment was that Flip (Pressey) didn't play tonight but there are more preseason games ahead of us and I'm sure he'll get his chance. There's still a learning process for this team and tha good thing about it is that even after they get tha hang of everything, there's still room for improvement from our players and our coach. We aren't on limited time anymore and I look forward to good things from these new-look Celtics and Brad Stevens.

Let's Go Celtics!

Predictions:

Bradley has more turnovers than assists but shoots 50%+ from the field. He doesn't get to the line.

Phil Pressey plays for no more than ten minutes, is a non-entity, except in this thread.

Sullinger takes up most of our minutes at center.

Jeff Green is not compared to James Worthy this year.

Bradley shot 5-16, and did not get to the line. Turnovers and assists were equal.

Pressy didn't play.

Sullinger played most of his minutes as the nominal center, I think.

Green garnered no Worthy comparisons.

83.25% accurate. Totally clairvoyant.

Bass played horrible defense. Rotations were there; but a little late. Faverani looked out of synch; but could be OK if he settles in.

Olynyk / Sullinger > Bass Humphries

If we can start Olynyk & Sulinger and bring Humphries & Faverani off the bench we might have something. Bass not impressing at the moment.

Also like Olynk and Humphries together since they can both run the floor.

Bass, like Perkins, Davis, and the other bigs who've spent significant time playing with KG and are suddenly playing without him, certainly seemed like he was playing worse.

My guess is that he's just hurting on that end from a lack of Garnett.

Also, I'm not convinced that our defense will be anything other than awful, regardless of who is on the floor. Lots of good individual efforts tonight--especially ballhawking and forcing turnovers in transition--but if this team can't guard the Raptors in the half-court during the preseason... :-X

"Bass got blocked a lot because he held the ball out like a loaf of bread in front a starving man".  Was I the only one who found this hilarious?  Good ol Tommy.

This is absolute VINTAGE Bass.  It absolutely kills me every time he does that.

He grabs an offensive rebound while he is wide open, then instead of putting it back in he comes back down...brings the ball down to his waist...stands around and pump fakes nobody three times, then by the time he actually goes up he is surrounded by three defender.  Either the ball gets stolen or the shot blocked.  Drives me absolutely in sane!!!

Every time I see Sully grab a board and go straight back up, it's like a breath of fresh air!

This is why Bass seems so...redundant at times.  He lacks the instincts to play in the low post (as this example shows) so you want to tell him to stay on the perimeter...but then he has no jumpshot range outside of about 15 feet so he can't step far out either.  You end up with a guy who basically just floats around the middle of the floor and clogs the offense.  He has moments of solid 1-on-1 defense (but struggles with team defense), and his passing instincts are really terrible.  Yet far as personality goes he always works hard, he's always modest, always tries to do what's good for the team.  Never before have I seen a player whom I want traded so badly, and yet would feel so bad to see gone at the same time.

Green is going to have to be the man night in and out.   He can't stand around and wait for a Paul and KG anymore....... He has to shoulder the pressure........make a bucket when nobody else can.... Lead, the team......especially with Rondo out...

Jeff green needs to answer the call.......

my impresssions (because I know everyone's been just dying to know what I think ;) )
- KO and Sully look like solid young players that could become very good pieces to build with.
- AB - great D, lousy offense still.  his PG skills are still awful
- Wallace impressed me that he came to play and looked pretty good considering he had a bad year last year.
- Hump looked pretty solid as well.
- Bogans looked like he did a few years ago--solid vet on the floor.
- Vitor - looks like he could be a quality backup center.
- Crawford -- looked decent running the team and his BBIQ seems to have improved.  looks like he'll be a better player for us this year.
- Green, Lee, Bass, Brooks -- MIA.  first preseason game but these guys need to be much better than they showed last night.

When Rondo comes back, I think this team could pull off a few surprise wins during the season but we're a mid-level lottery team as constituted.  need to move some vets for young players/picks and add a very good FA in 2015 (to add to our hopefully very talented young core -- including the stud we hope to get in the next draft) and I think the C's will be on the rise sooner than people expect.

looking at last night's game, I think Wallace, Hump and possibly Bogans could be moved this year for some assets.  Lee and Bass look like they're staying until they're expiring deals (and possibly the full length of their deals :(

The way I see it is that any decent team that feels like playing hard on any given night will beat this team handily.  They will steall a few wins here and there with their hustle and after the trade deadline a lot of guys on last night's roster will be playing elsewhere.
