I really don't get the fascination with Gordon.  He's an overpaid, injury prone smallish SG at 6'4.  He's missed more games than he's played over the last 3 years and I don't think he's worth the risk...

It's pretty easy to understand the fascination.  Some people over-value the ability to score 20 points per game.

Eric Gordon would be the second best player on this team... if he was healthy.

Which is part of the gamble. But it's also part of the reason why you could snag him at a discount. The easy parallel is Ray for the #5 pick, as far as talent + injury = pennies on the dollar. I'm not sure if the Pelicans bite on that, because Seattle was in the process of dismantling their team and New Orleans is trying to get out of the doldrums, but I'm also not sure that something like the trade above would be a terrible idea.

It's a gamble, but it doesn't look like a smart gamble to me.  I'm also not convinced that a healthy Gordon is a better player than a Jeff Green not playing out-of-position as a PF.

I'd rather wait and see if I could use those picks at mid-season or next summer to grab an older center from a team with an aging core looking to dismantle and rebuild.

I'd agree with that--a center is certainly a higher priority.

I think Humphries and Bradley alone might get it done.

I don't really see the point in making the trade. Adding Gordon (and even Anderson) doesn't put Boston in contention and makes the cap situation a lot worse.  So all the trade would do is make Boston have a worst draft pick, worse cap situation, less future picks, and while a bit closer to contention no where near it and now with less assets and ability to get there faster.

That said I think a 3 team trade with Indiana might make some sense.  Rondo & Wallace to Indy, Granger to NO, and Hill & Gordon to Boston.  That trade seems to make more sense for all of the teams involved.

That one's actually fair, though I'd add a pick going from NO to Boston since the Celtics would be helping the Pelicans get out of Gordon's contract.  That said... I dunno, but I feel like the Celtics would much sooner prefer Wallace for $10 million for the next three years over Gordon's massive contract for the next three years (with a player option that he'd assuredly pick up).
