God Bless Bob Cousy.  Thank you for posting this, HardlyYardley.

Bob Cousy has always been one of my favorite players (in fact, I first heard my dad talking about him when I was too young to even know what basketball was).

Very, very moving. I've seen my dad's mother go through all the stages of dementia over the course of 10 years, and my mom, who's had a tia at age 40, has since been off too. It starts with lots of little things, and that's arguably when it's hardest, because nobody notices. Heck, my dad and brother didn't even notice at first. It wasn't until I moved out of the house that my dad started noticing. And then my brother.

I've got nothing but respect for Cousy, hearing this. It's such a hard thing to deal with, and the only way to actually deal with it, is to pour everything you have into it.

Very, very moving.

My mother-in-law had Alzheimer's, and stayed with us until shortly before she passed away.  It really is aheart-wrenching time to go through.  Bob Cousy is one  remarkable man to have coped with it in such a loving fashion, alone for so many years.

I still have my father's Havlicek Stole the Ball Record!  I knew every last sniffle from Couz's retirement speech.
Yup

I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.
