"But when the deal first fell apart, I told [Celtics president of basketball operations] Danny [Ainge], 'I'll coach again here, I'll come back.' And then, a day later, I told him: I don't know if I can. That's how wishy-washy I was. But when I said that, Danny said, "OK, let me get back to work and get this thing done.'"
Odd. He really wanted to sign a long term large contract a year earlier. You'd think he would have said "Hey guys. Just so you know I reeealllyy don't want to go through a rebuild. If we do that then I will look for another team while under contract and I'll leak it to Stephen A Smith"
Doc just keeps insulting us like it's no big deal whatsoever. He's really easily become my second most disliked former Celts coach. The only coach that was ever just too good to coach us.
And thus the footer. I was apparently ahead of the curve? The S.A.S leak and everything else, when laid out on a timeline just made no sense unless Doc was acting really shady (I'm convinced it began before his last coached game w/Celtics.) The timeline...it's hard to believe otherwise.
Wyc was rightfully p---ed and Danny was rake over coals by a set of negotiators who had no rights to negotiate on Sterlings behalf. It was painful to watch.
Doc was advising about Bledsoe while not talking to his employer (Celtics). He goes on WEEI and implies this was not his idea but went "Danny came to him..." it was what was best for everyone..? ****? Made no sense.
Now read the top quote from Doc's lips. Where are the folks claiming Danny was trying to nuke the franchise and making Paul and K.G. sad
Where you at now? Where you at??? You move along AFTER you understand what went on and not before.
I'm surprised if any of you are surprised.
Are you saying Danny wasn't trying to nuke the franchise? And by 'nuke' i assume you mean blow it up and rebuild, because he definitely wanted to do that even if Doc was still here. Doc didn't force Dannys hand, it was the other way around. Reading everything Doc and Danny have said since parting ways, it's clear Danny was going to trade Pierce and KG (or force retierment) and rebuild. Doc didn't want that and it seems to have basically pushed him out the door. Why should he have to rebuild again? I'm happy for Docs new situation.
You need to get facts straight please. Doc said right after resigning and being asked directly about it meaning he would be part of a rebuild with tough decisions. He admitted it would be tough but he wanted to show loyalty to a franchise that showed it to him when the city wanted his head.
Am I the only person who remembers that? Nah, not possible...some of the mods at least must recall this since it was what...2 years ago?
Your point makes no sense and misses THE point. The rebuild was going to happen on Doc's watch and he knew it. He said it. It saddened him. But he signed.
As far as Pierce you need to listen to his interviews that have him saying clearly on camera since last Feb at least that he was not going to go through a rebuild and now he's talking about coming back to Boston after he retires and opening a bar and getting and staying involved with the community. Danny gave Paul what he wanted which was a chance. Paul has zero issues with Danny.
K.G. signed a contract with a no trade clause and he was gonna be buried in green until Doc went of the reservation and was taking K.G. with him. K.G. was fine with that. Never read ANYTHING stating he wasn't willing to join Doc. Read that he was willing to waive the clause though.
The situation the Celtics are in and will be in for a while will be rough. If it is anything easier than it will be inspite of Doc not because of him. He reamed this Org to the point where Wyc was throwing him under the bus and Danny too in that first shell shocked interview he gave.
Doc didn't want that and it seems to have basically pushed him out the door. Why should he have to rebuild again? I'm happy for Docs new situation.
I have no clue what you mean. Doc signed and was on board for it. He KNEW what was coming. Paul was asking for it and K.G.?, only he knows what was going on in his head.
What you said...I have no idea what it means?
