This is lollerskates. If Wade wants to be considered a better SG than Harden in the 2013 NBA, maybe he should learn how to shoot a three-pointer, or make more than three out of four of his free throws.

There are still people who think this is for real. Hilarious (hint: expect some new Gatorade commercials in the observable future).

More importantly, preseason starts in about a week.
Wait what the hell seriously?!? Why haven't I been notified yet of being able to purchase NBALP? If I remember right they usually allow you to buy it during preseason with an early bird discount

Ugghh Wade. One of the most overrated pkayers in the history of the game. Was fortunate to play with great players.

His best and only basketball move is wildly flailing away at the basket, kicking out his legs, and falling on his butt even on uncontested jumpshots.

Respectfully disagree. His play during their '06 title run was fantastic. Dude's slowed down since then, but he's probably the best or second best shooting guard of the last ten years, depending on how you feel about Kobe.

Yeah I mean who's his competition? An aging vince carter and up and coming James Harden?

I'd put him up there with Vince and Mcgrady, but this guy is not some sort of legend and man does he suck watching him keep kick and knee people on drives, brick most of his jump shots, and literally spend more time on his but on the floor than standing.

and the fact that Dallas was hit with a lot of those phantom calls during that championship series tarnish dwade's greatness. d-whistle....

It certainly felt like Miami got the ref's help, but I'm not so sure that the tape would bear that out now that we're (hopefully) far enough removed to avoid emotional interference.

And, in that championship series you just referenced, dude dropped a 34.7/7.8/3.8/2.7 with a PER of 33.8

With the rest of the playoffs, he rounded out at 25.4/5.3/6/1.8 with a 23.9 PER.

At the age of 24.

Hating Wade as a player is fair, hating Wade as one of the guys that helped create Miami's big 3 is fair, but I don't think you can say he had the luxury of playing with great players when he was very clearly the best player on that 06 Heat team.

I don't think this is manufactured, nor is it mean or offensive to Wade. I mean, Harden was KD's teammate for a long while, and a good friend, it's natural for him to stick up for him. It would be like Rondo sticking up for Perk for defensive top 5 if Perk hadn't regressed so much in the last few years.

It sounds more like Wade being a cry baby and overreacting again. Wade's place in history?

-supporting cast member on 2 championship teams

-only player I have ever seen commit a flagrant foul in the all-star game

-on NBA all-time best flopper list

-on NBA all-time cheap shot artist list

that about sums it up

^ Not even about history; this is top ten for the season. Harden > Wade in that context.

It was manufactured, too big a coincidence. I think people are forgetting about this commercial from last year:

maybe....I'm still not convinced though. If your going to have a long term marketing strategy to create a feud between two NBA players, Durant makes sense, but with Wade? Why? He's a different position and different age group. Lebron would have made much more sense, and would be much more effective to market the NBA imo. Durant vs Lebron would be gold, but Durant vs Wade?

I think the main thing was that they needed two marquee names to agree to be paid to present a fake manufactured rivalry that is both intense and respectful, setting a good example for the kids that you can compete and still treat each other with respect, and only results matter, and drink gatorade. Cuz it gives you an advantage.

The easy answer is...Lebron probably just didn't want to do it, or wanted more money that they were comfortable paying. Or maybe Durant didn't wanna play second fiddle to LeBron again, or maybe any one of a lot of other potential reasons. It hard to know without knowing.

I don't think the Gatorade thing is plausible--The interview was set up around shilling for Degree, a Unilever company. I doubt that Gatorade was piggybacking on this with Wade and Durant--they almost certainly didn't pay Wade, Durant, Unilever and Cinesport for this.

It is a nice theory though, especially since those ads ran constantly during the playoffs. this is just people searching for meaning in the light of an apparent synchronicity.
