"You get a chance to play with a guy like Rondo, who won a championship and has been an All-Star and done all those things. I'm excited because he's a guy that plays at a high pace the whole game. He's a great passer, whether it's in transition or the half-court. I'm hoping that he gets back as soon as possible. I talked to coach [Brad] Stevens a lot about playing at an up-tempo pace -- get out there and run. So I'm prepared to do that. I think that will be great for everyone. We have a lot of younger guys, so I think to play at an up-tempo pace will give us a chance to compete every night."

I poached this quote from Kevin O'Connor's front page article about Humphries.  I hadn't noticed this Hump interview before, and this is the first concrete indication I've seen that this team will look to push the pace next season.  The fact that Kardashian says he talked to coach Stevens about an up-tempo pace should be encouraging to those of us hoping that coach Brad won't try to duplicate the plodding, slow, grind-it-out style of his Butler teams.

Run, Baby, run!!

But...but....we want to lose 70 games so we can draft Jermaine Wiggins (or whatever his name is.)

No one said we couldn't do both.

Very excited to see some up-tempo hoops.

I think a lot of people will end up being disappointed.

Agreed. Everyone in this lineup can run from pressey, lee, bradley, brooks to humphries, bass, olynyk.

Prob the only guy that is not suited for the running game is sully.

Also this team does not have any problem child players like cousins, royce  white.

It will be a nice year i predict and we should contend for 7-8 spot. If by trade deadline and even with rondo playing decent and we are really bad , like 11th place or worse i do see danny fielding offers for almost everyone on the team outside of young guys like olynyk, sullinger etc.

Then those who wanted to go buffet on the 2014 draft will be happy.

I see what Hump is saying and I even agree, but it's not like rocket science with a team full of young legs and limited "talent" overall.  He's right that it gives them a better chance to compete than in the half-court. Other teams will figure this out soon enough and compensate by keeping them from getting out on the break. This is a not uncommon theme is this league with young teams.

I hope you are right. I've sorta resigned to the fact that they likely won't be a good team. But man do I want to see this team prove me and everyone wrong and be a playoff contender.

Would much rather see the proudest team in NBA history contend for the playoffs even if it's a 7 or 8 seed instead of tank an entire season.

If tanking is their expectations for the season, definitely. I think this team can win 30 games.

The better teams in the league with the proper personnel may be able to keep them from getting out on the break but most of the average and below average teams in the league won't be able to consistently IF Stevens can develop the proper mindset in our guys. And what's good about this group is that this is NOT a really young group. We have a ton of guys on this roster that know how to outlet, fill lanes and score in transition.
Never underestimate the predictability of stupidity...

He has to rebound like he did in 2010-11.

We have the players who can push the pace, including him. And I agree with Kevin O'Connor, he's pure hustle and can be part of a successful running team.

But we need to rebound, and Hump has shown he can dominate the boards. If he wants this team to run, he better grab the boards.

A healthy rondo and sully, full season of green
new coach not against playing many guys
a much better rebounding team than last year
good team defense

why don't i see this team not far off or about equal with last years regular season?
