They let both Milsap and Jefferson walk for nothing this off-season, and didn't seem to make a legitimate attempt to trade them. They could have easily gotten back a few first rounders for them, not to mention a trade exception or other players to build around or trade in the future.

Heck, I'm sure we would have given up Bass/Lee + 2013 first rounder for Milsap (probably more than that given DA loves him).

One player walking from a team i can understand, but i don't understand how an organization could let them both go for nothing. If i was a Utah fan i would be booing management at the next home game.

It is possible that when they explored such options, they could not find a deal where they did not take back contracts they did not want.

And the teams that had cap room had no reason to make trade offers.

I think the fact that Utah used its new cap space to pick up a couple of first rounders in the deal with Golden State helps mitigate things a bit.

As a Utah fan I'd be annoyed they let Millsap go so cheaply and happy that they moved on from Jefferson.

Mostly I'd be excited for them to let Favors/Kanter sink or swim.

I think I would be fine with it.  I mean it wasn't like Utah was competing for titles.  They didn't even make the playoffs with Millsap and Jefferson.  Consistently just missing the playoffs or barely making it in is never the place to be for a franchise.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

Happy that they are finally out of the way and Kanter + Favors get the playing time they need to develop.

Good summer for Utah.

I am not a fan of Utah winning yet another fantasy championship. It's time for me to take him down...next year. Probably not this year

Good summer for Utah.

This is my take as welll. Plus, as Roy mentioned, they used their cap space to absorb some vets that they have no problem keeping on the bench, those players are expiring anyway and they got some picks. Utah is in a great spot economically. They'll be in the lottery at a great time. I'm pumped as a Utah fan.

If I'm a Jazz fan, I know that Utah's MO has generally been to groom players through the draft.

I also still hate Deron Williams for driving Jerry Sloan away and forcing a trade.

TP.  Sloan was an iconic franchise coach.

I'd have to think that it would have been ideal to lock up a 3 player rotation of bigs by keeping Milsap, though.  He's been a pretty solid Utah guy for a long time as well, and I'm a bit sympathetic toward teams keeping their own guys.

I think if I was a Jazz fan, I would be in a wait and see mode.  They have fully committed to the rebuild now, and the tank.  I think they are right there with Philly as one of the worst rosters for this season, with one of the potentially brightest futures.  I could buy in to the tank job this year, with the hopes of drafting a savior to put with the young core they already have, and lift them back up being one of the top teams in the West.

I'd be kind of sad seeing that I probably live in Salt Lake City Utah.

And yes, I've been there.
