I have read MANY MANY articles w/ quotes from every Celtics player this off season. I have read pieces on all the Nets players and how all of them are working hard and are at the facilities early than they have ever been. Dozens of articles on how they are happy to be here and excited to play. They all bring up having motivation from people writing them off. I have seen every video/interview you can find on youtube from the guys too.

Hump

from his agent

"This is the earliest he's ever reported to camp, so he's going to have about three good weeks of work before training camp starts," Ketroser said. "He wants to get acclimated, he wants to get to know everyone, he wants to really prove to everyone, 'Look, I'm here, I'm devoted, I'm ready to rock and roll.' That's where his head's at. He's looking to have a good year and would love to sign a three- or four-year deal and stay in Boston, and be part of them turning around."

Hump has changed his shooting stroke trying to become a stretch 4. He has been working with Phil Webber (worked w/ PP, Amare, and Kobe).

He has been playing pickup games in LA with some of the best players in the game.

Marshon Brooks

He's been in Boston working hard. He puts up little clips of his training now and then.

Next month there will be clips up on youtube about his training.

If you are reading this you are probably saying there is no news on Bogans either. That's true, I haven't heard/seen a peep of him since the press conference. The thing is, he was a throw-in, he isn't here to get many minutes, he's just a journeyman at this point. He at least showed up to the presser and said all the right things.

Other players who have a long shot in the dark to even make the team have been around and make comments every now and then. Chris Babb was at the youth clinic they had today.

You know it's bad when Crawford...

Phil Pressey

http://www.celticslife.com/2013/09/video-phil-pressey-interview.html

Vitor Favorini has done a couple interviews in Spanish and I have seen the other guys and Stevens talk about him in different interviews. He's been around and has a few pics up here and there.

http://www.celticslife.com/2013/08/vitor-faverani-i-would-give-everything.html

I can find many more articles on all of the guys but it would take a long time b/c I have been watching videos and reading articles on every site I can find every day! Not just things that they have said but the other guys talking about each other.

There are even articles on RR being around and he's injured. Pressey even talks about him helping him out already.

I can't find ONE THING that has Wallace talking about being a Celtic or someone mentioning him (except Stevens said he has spoken with him over the phone). NOTHING.

Is it just me, or is he the only one who by absence is saying, I don't want to be here or be a part of this team? He is the vet, a guy capable of earning big minutes, he has the opportunity to lead the kids but he's a no-show! Everyone has been in early training and bonding, what is Wallace doing? Even if he doesn't want to be here, doesn't he realize that he will almost be impossible to move??

I love players like Wallace, guys who leave it all on the floor... that dude would leave body parts if necessary. I just don't like that he hasn't been active and may be just waiting until scheduled training camp. If he has been around, why is everyone keeping quiet about it? How is he is the only guy (besides, as stated b4, Bogans), everyone fails to mention? Vitor has trouble with the language barrier but a few people have even commented on him!

If there is a Celtics related article or video, I have seen it (many every day)... even articles about stuff I could care less about like salary cap lol. Maybe I missed the things on Wallace but I have looked long and hard... can someone help me find just ONE thing about him and Boston/Celtics?

Little S/N: Don't waste your time like I have trying to find videos/interviews on Humphries because it's mostly Kim K. related (aside from old highlights and him training but even that's very little).

I have no idea...and have been wondering, too.

Wallace seems like that bench 3/4 that most title teams seem to have.  Horry, MMiller, Posey, Odom.  In that light, he's not overpaid on the right team, and should get plenty of minutes and do quite well here in the perfect role.

I mean, he really balances out our roster, both while Sully remains out (and Bass starts) or after he gets back (and Bass is on his way out, or Olynyk looks like he won't cut it).

He really does solidify and legitimize our Forward rotation with Green and Bass, plus the youngin's.

I'd like to see him succeed, and stick, backing up Green and Sully in the near term.

But it'll be nice once camp gets going and we get his take.  It seems we'll have to wait until then.

LOL now here's a Bogans bit.... dang Wallace, where are you?

 Scott Souza @scott_souza

#Celtics rookie Phil Pressey also said Kris Humphries and Keith Bogans have been very helpful and have spent lots of time in Waltham.

I'd rather have him say nothing than lie and say he's excited and really wants to be here. I'm thinking that might be it.

  • Rondo doesn't believe in easy buckets...
I remember Stevens saying in one of his most recent interviews that Wallace has yet to report in to Boston. It sounded like Stevens was covering for an unhappy Wallace. Wallace was very open when voicing his frustrations in Brooklyn, I hope he doesn't bring his sour grapes here. If he does we will need to move him ASAP.

I agree, I'd rather he say nothing if he doesn't want to be here but not saying anything says a lot.

MU, yep that's the same thing I took from Stevens. He said they talked and that he told Wallace he was happy to have him but he didn't say Wallace expressed the same. He went on to talk about how difficult change is... but when he talks about the other Nets he never has to deflect, he always says how great they have been and how excited they are for the season. The way he was speaking about when Wallace was going to show up makes me ASSUME that he's really saying I wish he would come and interact with everyone NOW (like everyone else is) but that he'll be there when camp starts. LOL Stevens was very careful with what he was saying in regards to Wallace... watch how his body language changes when Wallace is brought up, you can see him making sure he doesn't say the wrong thing.

One interesting point is that the Grizzlies used a trade exception to absorb Melo's salary, so there was no reason for them to send Donte Greene unless the Celtics wanted him.  Greene is a combo forward, but he is a better small forward than a power forward.

1.  It is possible that Danny just liked Greene and wanted to give him a shot at training camp.
2.  It is possible that Danny foresees Greene's contract as a useful chip to match salaries in a larger trade.
3.  It is possible that Danny anticipates moving Wallace and thus shoring up the backup small forward spot.

Wallace is a veteran with multi-year security (unlike Humphries and Bogans) so it is not unusual for him to not report early to training camp.

You may be on to something Shak. I remember when I first saw that interview and I remember thinking it sounded a little different but I didn't think much of it but maybe he doesn't want to be here. But the only way he's gonna get out of here is to be a professional and play. I suppose he doesn't have to come in early like others have done but it would've been nice to see him in here. Then again Bass hasn't been in early. Then again Bass just did get married not long ago so I suppose hat's as good a reason as any. I guess we'll see what happens at Media Day and see what his mindset is. Wallace is not a younger guy like most of the players already here. I dunno. Maybe not his crowd?
Never underestimate the predictability of stupidity...

He'll show up eventually.  He's probably just not thrilled about leaving a playoff team for a bottomfeeding talentless lotto squad.  He's coming off a pretty horrible year and he's thought to be an albatross of a contract.  He might ride the pine until his contract finally expires and then he'll be out of the league.  Nothin to see.

Yea, I get that, I was going to bring that up. If I'm being honest, I'd be mad too. I'm not mad that he hasn't shown up, I just want to know why he hasn't said one word, so that I don't have to speculate... left to my own thoughts, I'm liable to come up with crazy scenarios. Even if he doesn't interact with everyone else... how is it that no one has done an interview with him, is he so mad that he is restricting all access to him? You can't tell me a lot of people haven't tried to get his p.o.v on the trade and the team. Heck, the least he could do is say something to the fans... can I get a "Hi Boston" or SOMETHING/ANYTHING?

TP for good topic. I've been curious about Wallace myself, up until that incident with Rondo and KG last season I had been a fan of his.

I think it's safe to assume he wasn't happy with the trade. He could've easily given a token message to the city/fans by now but has chosen not to. What was his excuse for not going to the introductory press conference?

It's understandable why he's not happy to be in Boston but part of being a professional is adapting to these situations and making the best out of it.

I'll be interested to see if he plays with his usual reckless abandon when he does take the court. If he wants a contending team with deep pockets to make a trade for him, he needs to do the right thing by Boston first, his stock is at an all-time low.

From what I'm hearing and seeing my impression is Wallace couldn't care less about this team or the season. You don't have to start working out early or hang around Boston, but at least show your face to someone in the organization. It sounds like he's doing the bare minimum and just picking up calls when he gets them. This dude was basically crying his way out of Brooklyn last year hopefully he doesn't come here with the same attitude.
