We are going to celebrate like it's 2006, all over again :(

We're getting the band back together. Gomes is available too. D-West is looking for a team and most importantly G-Money could be had for nothing too!

What's Szczerbiak doing these days?

Is there a better FA point guard left?  I dont think so, but I may have missed someone.

Jamaal Tinsley?  Daniel Gibson?  Rodrigue Beaubois if you're interested in throwing a younger player out there and seeing if something happens?

Telfair is definitely a respectable back-up PG, don't mind the signing at all if it happens, though I do wonder who would be cut to make room for him.
Donte Green will be gone.

Telfair is just so underwhelming.  hate to think Danny can't find anyone better.

I would be happy to have him until Rondo is back to speed.

I actually don't really mind Telfair but would've much preferred another free agent point guard such as Jose Calderon, Mo Williams, Jarrett Jack or Nate Robinson.

Does that mean people will start watching "through the fire" again?

Between Pho and Tor, Telfair shot 0.362 from the field including 0.353 from 3-pt.  So my conclusion is that he will be perfect.  Good enough so that it will appear we are not tanking while certainly bad enough that we are not going to have any real chance of winning, and cheap enough (one would think) to be, well cheap.

Perfect.
And since he got drafted in 04, every single team that he has been on has been horrible.  Encouraging.

It's amazing to think back to the 2006-2007 team; I figured at the time that there was a lot of talent there that just needed some time to develop, but if you put that team back together on the court in 2013 you'd be lucky to win 25 games.

So true lol. I was 100% sure that not all our young players then would turn out to be stars (or even role players) in this league as many wanted to believe; and I'm sure that the same will apply for this batch of youngsters as well. For example, for a the hype about Olynyk, he might be a journeyman in this league. Who knows. Maybe the same goes for Bradley in like, 3 years after another injury. Fab Melo is already gone.

Rondo, Allen, Pierce, Jefferson, Perkins started on playoff teams and Baby was a very productive starter as well.  That's a lot of talent with no lottery picks outside of Pierce.

I think a team built on the youngsters from the 2007 would be better than a 25 win team but still no better than a 7th or 8th seed at best.  You have the very good Rondo and Tony's built on the last season he had with the Celtics but Jefferson's a net negative while Perkins hasn't been the same since his injury even though his defense remains really good.  Then there's Gerald, who is still not good, Delonte is out of the league but not because he can't play and Big Baby wasn't in the league at the time.  I think they would win their fair share against bottom rung teams but not fare to well against above average to great teams.  Around 35 wins maybe.

At no time did I think they would gel into a good core given time.  Certainly losing 17 straight when Pierce was out and being almost assured of breaking the record for consecutive losses had he not come back colored my thinking.  I'm still amazed that nearly the bulk of a really bad team minus the best player and it turned the second best player netted KG.  Mchale really bailed out Ainge big time.  Four years into his tenure, the franchise was still rudderless and it took a very incompetent Celtics legend to save it.

Hopefully they're just expressing interest to raise the price for other teams

considering Perk and Powe weren't injured at that time so taking that into consideration for evaluating that core of talent developing:
Rondo, Allen, Pierce, Jefferson, (healthy) Perkins
Bench: Delonte, Telfair, Gerald Green, (healthy) Powe, BBD (assuming that with only 1 second rounder Danny takes BBD over Pruitt)
That's a playoff team in the East.  Not a contender but a playoff team.
Add Jeff Green with the 5 pick the next year and it's a very good playoff team.  still not a contender but there was reason to believe the team had talent

One thing is for certain, he's made Jay Bilas' prediction from the film look spot-on.
