After playing in Deutsche Bank pro-am, Brad Stevens disagreed with Sullinger's comment that Rondo may not return before December.

#Stevens on Rondo:"I have never heard a timeline from him & the latest that I’ve heard from our medical staff is that he’s progressing well"

Quote

#Stevens on Rondo: "Our staff has spent a little bit of time w/ him off site here as well as we followed up on his rehab when hes been away"

Quote
Tom Layman ‏@Tom_Layman 1h
#Stevens on #Rondo: He will be back in town soon. He’s working. I know that for a fact. (cont'd)

Quote

#Stevens on #Rondo (cont'd): "He’s working hard to get back as soon as he can and I’m sure he will."

Either way, I just want Rondo back when he's feeling 100%, no need to rush.

He does not state in any of those comments that Rondo is coming back by october or november, so nothing he said actually contradicts Sullinger's statement

I think they're meaning that he's not agreeing with the entire December thing. Since he hasn't even been given a timeline how can Sully give a specific month. Personally, I don't think they'll let us know when he's ready. I think they'll play the coy game.

I doubt there's anyone in the world (including Rajon Rondo) who knows for certain when he'll return from his surgery.

The only correct answer is most likely; when he's ready.  That's not a very concrete estimate.
DKC Seventy-Sixers:

PG: G. Hill/D. Schroder
SG: C. Lee/B. Hield/T. Luwawu
SF:  Giannis/J. Lamb/M. Kuzminskas
PF:  E. Ilyasova/J. Jerebko/R. Christmas
C:    N. Vucevic/K. Olynyk/E. Davis/C. Jefferson

Unless I missed some other interview, Sully never Rondo "may not return before December".

That's just plain an innacurate representation of what Sully said:

Those are two different phrases with very different meanings.

What timeline did Sully give anyone? What timeline do people think actually exists? Not only does Sully not have any idea when Rondo will be back, Rondo and his doctors don't know when he'll be back.

Probably people getting carried away with optimism after Ainge's speculation that he'd be ready to go for training camp.

Not even Rondo knows when he's coming back. Speculation from players and coaches is pretty insignificant.

Neither Sully nor Stevens are doctors and neither am I. That qualifies me to state that Rondo wont return before the January 26th game against the Brooklyn Neltics.

I am sure Stevens knows exactly how Rondo is progressing.  But he is a coach, and he understands the politics of not giving out too much information...particularly with something that is so fluid.

My guess is that Sully had information too, but Sully just isn't doing the political thing of not giving any solid information to the press.
