Vitor Faverani's interview

Already liking this guy, and I've watched a couple of his highlight videos. Nothing too impressive or scary athletic, but he does seem quick and athletic enough to run a fast paced game which the Celtics most likely will have with a younger team. I also love his attitude, and his determination. I do remember a podcast where they had talked to him on the phone with a Spanish translator, and he had stated that he was honored to play for such a storied franchise. When asked if there wasn't much going to happen for this team at the time, he simply responded, "then I'll make sure I'll do my best to give it my all to this team, ok?"

But if he can grab a couple of boards, play somewhat average defense, and try to be the rim protector, while scoring a couple easy lob passes or is able to score 8-10 PPG. Then I'll be content with that. Right now its a rebuilding process, and looking for the best option available in terms of team. Gutting out which roster won't work, and seeing which young stud is worth keeping.

My estimated career stats would be.

8.6 PPG, 5.7 RPG, 0.9 BPG, 0.7 SPG, 2.1 APG, on 26 MPG, while its nothing impressive, it clearly has room for improvement, with him being young, and getting used to the NBA's rules.

He is a defensive-minded coach who makes his team very cohesive and united, beyond the individual names. You have told us that you spoke to him, you had dinner together. What are your sensations about him? Do you think you will fit?

VF: Yes, when you talk to him it seems like talking to another player. He is very very young, a charming person. I have met his wife, his two children, his mom… and they are a beautiful family, his younger girl seems like an angel. They are a superb family who transmit union, as he wants to do it as a team, building a smooth locker room. I told him to expect all my help in such matters, because I love having a close locker and so I will do. He transmit a feeling of someone who likes hard work and wants the player to get on well among them and with the coach. I guess that he will be a kind of another player with us, being so young."

CS: We record a podcast every week, and have talked about that in the last one. There are lately some journalists that predict you will be a starter next season. This is just speculation today, but the next question deals with this: How are you managing the reports from experts considering you a probable starter? Is it adding you pressure?

VF: No, not at all. This is the first time I am hearing this, I believe. I do not have much time to read the social networks or anything, but I do not think, or feel, or consider whether I will be starting or not. As I told you, the team has not been together, or have a common workout or practice to know the coach’s ideas about the team. However, I can assure you that I am working very hard, I love being here and if I am a starter, let’s go! I would give everything for the team and bleed for this uniform, if needed."

Thanks, I'm hoping he does well for us. I always have the inkling that if Spurs are interested in someone, that they must have something most NBA GM's can't see.

Here's hoping he can at least produce decent minutes. What numbers do you predict he'll have? Or do you think Sully/Kris will start ahead of him?

I'm reticent to make any kind of predictions at this point.  He's just too much of a mystery to me.  I'd definitely like to see him be able to play productively for 10 to 15 minutes a night, though.  I don't know if that's asking too much, or not.

I'm glad he's here and working with some of the guys.  He's definitely one of the guys I'm looking forward most to seeing this year.

I wonder who Vitor's translator was during his meet with Stevens?

Are the Celts going to carry one for him?

I did chuckle when he's quoted as saying "I can tell you what they do and how they are working out in practice, but their pronunciation is so strange that I am not able to tell you exactly their names. Besides that, they are constantly using nicknames more than their Christian names, so I hear how they talk each other on the court and sometimes I get a bit lost.

Not making fun of the guy but I can guess it's tough enough
just trying to pick up english without it being ground up and spit out by the young hipsters.
