Jeff Green: The Future

It just reminds me of the Pierce stabbing incident where your life was on the line but you were given another chance or you were meant to succeed and be great. We can't know now but who knew really what The Truth would become and accomplish when that happened.

This makes me believe in this team and the players who will give it all everyday. i know Green feels he was given a second chance in so many ways and hes ready to bleed green.

Pierce in his second season at age 22 was already a guy who put up 20 points, 5 boards, 3 assists, 2 steals... so it was pretty clear he was well on his way to becoming an all-star.

He bounced back huge after the stabbing... in his 3rd season he played all 82 games and averaged 25.3 points, 6.4 rebounds, 3.1 assists, 1.7 steals and along with Walker they lead the team to the playoffs.

Jeff Green is veteran rotation player who is already 27 years old.  This will be his 7th year in the league.  He's always been capable of 15-19 a night.  He's a good player.  He should be a starter.  He'll never be a star.

When Jeff Green is 35 years old, I swear some people on this site will still be expecting him to blossom into a Durant level player.

Exactly. This is what bugs me as well. I think Jeff has realized that this could be his shot at becoming an all star, and HEY why not. He was the only Celtic to avg. 20ppg in the playoffs, and I think he could easily do that without Pierce and KG getting their shots.

Its really amazing what he has come back from. I had a heart procedure done last NOV. and i'll tell you i have played ball competitively since i was about 6. I was so scared to start playing again. Mine wasn't even life threatening. This guy could have died at any given moment on the floor, and to see what he has come back and done, simply amazing.

I think there are just certain things that get argued about around here a lot and people become reflexive.

"Yet another topic about how Jeff Green is gonna be great.  Yet another person equating Jeff Green to Paul Pierce and saying he's "the future" of the Celtics.  *Eye roll*"

Can't really blame them.  The OP maybe didn't say some of that stuff explicitly, but there's a lot of stuff in the post that implied it (especially the title).

Great video, TP for the OP.

There´s no certainty for Green's future as the leading scorer for the Cs, but he did very well in the playoffs, and if he's willing to keep improving, he can be an essential part of the Celtics. And I'm rooting for him to be that, don't care about the All-Star/Super Star/Franchise player rethoric, or the 1/2/3 classification. The Celtics need players that can help the team by defending, scoring, rebounding and blocking shots. He can be one of our starters for a long time.

Green's game can complement Rondo's game, as he can shoot from 3 and drive to the basket with good %. Of course, Green and Rondo are entering their primes, and they should put some work on their weaknesses to make themselves and the team better. Add a big man who can pass and score in the post and you have the foundation of a great team. We'll see.

Agreed. Physically, most people peak athletically around 25-27, as far as the highest apex between your physical prowess and your experience in whatever sport/activity you're discussing.

On the other hand, I see no reason to take the p--- when you're talking about Jeff Green's return to basketball.

Jeff Green was picked #5 for a reason.  This is the year he will break out and if he doesn't , than the wiggins can start flooding.
