I learned abosolutely nothing new in reading those articles. I think that Gerald Wallace, Bass, and Humphries are here in Boston to start the season and I think they will make an effort to be competitive.

Couldn't agree more.

The only takeaway for me: confirmation that we are in the OFF SEASON.
Celtics fan for life.

Yeah.

Doesn't feel like a rumor. More like conjecture by guy behind a screen and a keyboard. Like Gainesville Celtic said Wallace will have value in the future as an expiring or, if we're lucky, as an actual player. And, like some have rightfully pointed out we'd be needlessly losing value by trading Wallace right now (at the very least we'd lose a first or at least a prospect).

If the Wallace+AB for Fradette from several weeks back were true, I'd personally hunt Ainge down. Who's with me?

One a separate but related note of crap journalism, I've been wondering if Steven A. Smith's 'rumor' was actually a tipping point for Doc's departure. These hacks can say anything they want without repercussions and I'd be interested to know if what they say affects the decisions of players/coaches/GMs. Which would suck.

But it's probably just a coincidence. They put out thousands of rumors per day and the one they get right they brag about it and magically forget the rest.

I don't think SAS's 'rumor' was made up conjecture at all.  He clearly talks to Doc regularly, Doc came on his show a few weeks later, and the day after Smith's report the result of Danny's conversation with Doc was a certified letter to Doc telling him that the C's expected him to fulfill his contract.

I like a lineup of Rondo/AB/Green/Sully/AV and that could definitely be a 40 win team. Plus, you clean up the power forward clutter we currently have (if I read one more suggestion of Humphries or Sully playing center, I am going to scream ;D)

In my opinion, signing Varajeo would be a win-win.

If he can stay healthy, he's an easy walking double-double.
If he can't stay healthy, Celts lose more games and grab the lotto next year. Isn't that what everyone wants?
what is the point of a 40 win team though?

Well with a 40 win team you could sneak into the playoffs and then get bumped off in the 1st round.  Meanwhile you miss out on the lottery entirely, but maybe you get your guys some playoff experience.  It sounds like a no man's land place to be honestly.

Varajeo is a winner, and would be a good piece to add to a contending team, but we're not that.  I have no interest in Freddette or Salmons.

Honestly if those are our trade options, I'd rather wait until the trade deadline so we can maximize Hump's expiring into a high draft pick or nice prospect.  Teams who want the cap room for a marquee free agent will be willing to deal.  Also if Hump recovers form as a double/double guy he will have added value on top of that as an immediate frontline depth help kind of player.
