I can see the flopping and dress code issues, but any attempt to avoid HGH testing makes the players union lose all credibility especially now with all of the issues in MLB.

I am really getting tired of Chris Paul.

He's clearly the type of guy who's the president of his own fan club.

I also think it's an AWFUL idea to have current players run the players union because they are going to make ridiculous demands like these.

I am surprised he didn't already recommend a 30 percent annual raise for himself.

MUCH rather see a retired, more accomplished and less egocentric player run the union (...ie, Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, Shaq O'Neil, Reggie Miller, Charles Barkley, etc.)

I'm just curious what kind of changes the NBA is interested in making regarding the dress code.  As far as I know, it's still in effect.

I would have thought that the players' union would be calling for a repeal to the dress code, not a promise that the league won't change it.

You're joking right? Did you miss all the Fab Melo has potential threads?

But, seriously, look at the timeline. It was post AI. Post Malice in The Palace. Post hardcore rap albums released by NBA players. The NBA needed an image change from the "thug" imagery that was starting to dominate its popular culture. Of course, the "thug" imagery happened to be the way the predominantly black players in the NBA were dressing--the XXXXL shirts, chains, jewelery and so forth.

Sure, it was to make the players/product/game more marketable. But more marketable to whom? The people who have the money to buy tickets and season passes?


Gee. I wonder what a majority those people look like.


Sidenote: I assume that they're trying to get a lock on the players dress code so no one can stop guys like Westbrook/Wade/Harden/etc. from wearing some of the more outlandish things they've adopted recently.
