Anybody worry there might be too many cooks?

Hopefully the interviewing process is still just as stringent if not more.

how many assistant coaches do the celtics have now, and how many positions are there? is this a new position or an old one being filled?

you mention too many cooks, i was wondering what was the basis for the question.

I think they've lost maybe a handful of staff with Doc. But they've also been hiring quite a few people since Doc's departure. I haven't kept a tally but it seems they've replaced everyone who's gone.

Then Stevens sends out letters and we have 2 guys lined up in 2 days.

Thing is, Antoine and the Chief have expressed interest in being coaches. Sure, Antoine seems like he's doing better while the Chief is awesome but they do not seem to be good coaches, at least not yet. I think they'd be an ill fit for Brad Stevens and a roster like this. Hopefully they'd still be able to shortlist after Stevens's gesture.

You know who I was shocked to learn was an assistant coach with the Pacers not too long ago?

Vitaly Potapeko.

The very end of the O'bie era out in Indiana (aka the end of O'bie's tenure as an NBA coach), he hired Big V.  I loved Big V as a player, but I never once would have pegged him as "future coach."  "Enforcer for the Ukrainian mafia," sure, but not coach!

Incidentally, the Cavs hired Potapenko as a player development coach earlier this summer.
