McHP I just want to say I love your enthusiasm and how you always make a quote about the player you pick. You deserve a TP.

I agree. You've been a great GM McHP.

All this talk of who has the best big men combos makes me think people don't realize there are 3 other positions on the court just as important.

Is this a team building exercise, or just a competition to see who is the "biggest"?  I bet you all drive expensive, fast sports cars too!  :o

No, no, no.

I have already told you why I like your team. Perimeter play is important, too. It just wasn't the topic of discussion. If we discussed perimeter defense and shooting, you would be among the leaders.

No worries man.  I was just trying to be a little funny, while yes, also pointing out how I think a little too much attention gets paid to the bigs.

Regarding big men though, I think that the playoffs and regular season have a lot of do with the emphasis on bigs. Hibbert/West almost knocked off the reigning champs. Splitter's integration into San An's lineup revitalized them offensively and defensively, Gasol/Z-Bo consistently turn out to be better than people expect when it comes time to turn separate the wheat from the chaff. Plus, the places with the most up and coming talent seem to be the 1 and the 5. Drummond, Monroe, Kanter, Favors, Valanciunas, Sanders, Asik, McGee, Hibbert, Cousins, Vucevic, Anthony Davis...there are a lot of talented big men who were relative non-factors a year of two ago, while the 2 and 3 seem to be dwindling in terms of new talent coming about, with a few notable exceptions.

Well, super busy day back to school kept me out today. Thank god I grabbed a co-gm (and a good one at that ;) )

Very excited about the additions we added today though. Lakers are gonna be a tough team to match up with

Too bad the division crown is already taken  ;)

Yeah, you're right, Tim Duncan and Oj Mayo terrify me  :P
I would be scared of the West/Duncan combo

KG and Horford ain't.

Horford isn't on the level of Gasol/Duncan, but Garnett is better than West and roughly equivalent to Nowitzki

I'd rank...

Gasol/Diggler
Horford/Garnett
Duncan/West

The Garnett & Duncan combos are so close...really flip a coin

I don't know if I'd rank Gasol / Dirk first.  They're the worst rebounding of the three listed combos, and the worst (combined) defensively.  Are their offensive contributions enough to trump?  I'm not sure.

Okay, the defensively worse combo has the reigning DPOY? I'll buy that with a bag of chips please  ???
*CB Miami Heat*
Kyle Lowry, Dwayne Wade, 13th pick in even numbered rounds, 18th pick in odd numbered rounds.

Hey now, I never said they weren't important.  But some of these teams with 4 or 5 big men who all deserve 25-35 minutes are just unrealistic.  Further more, you need more than just good bigs, nobody builds a "real" team that way.  Maybe this is just a side-effect of there only being 25 teams in this league

And I'm not sure what argument you would have to use against me in the DKC.  I would never build a team who's only notable strengths are big men.  I prefer well-rounded teams.  One elite big, one solid big, one elite wing, one solid wing, and a solid PG.

But, for the record, the CB Cavs are maybe the one team that does seem to actually be well rounded, while still mostly reliant on it's bigs.

Neither Sa or Memphis have an elite wing.
