With Greg Popovich gone to Boston, the San Antonio Spurs reportedly had narrowed their head coaching search to two candidates:

Rasheed Wallace

and Rick Carlisle.

As late as Friday evening, Coach Wallace was the rumored front runner. But the job ultimately has been given to Carlisle, one of only four active coaches with an NBA ring, and a winning percentage of 58.7% good for fourth in the league. Carlisle has missed the postseason only twice in his eleven year career. In a conference call with media tonight, he expressed excitement at the prospect of working with Kevin Love, Andre Iguodala, Danny Granger and Thad Young.

That is the worst tease since my 10th grade prom date.  THE Walker Wiggle + THE Coach Sheed "Cut The Check" Wallace would be a match made in imagination sports heaven.

Don't make me immediately regret my nod toward veracity.

I love Sheedy and have made him a promise for next season, after he's had a full year of coaching under his belt.

Believe me, I did consider trying to sell him during voting as a mentor for JaVale McGee.

the most [dang]ed of all are those that pick middle

Yep, dead on.  Picking in the middle sucks.

I guess you have to embrace the challenge though.

It's like a basketball reboot of '48 Hours', with Sheed constantly handcuffing JaVale to make sure he doesn't do anything stupid, but sometimes, when you forget to keep watching, JaVale will do something totally spectacular. Id pay premium money to hear both guys mic'ed up during practices, games, and team huddles.

Apparently I've been ordered to pick a head coach.  I find this more annoying than I can state, and an exercise in futility, but whatever.  I respect the job Nick has done as commish, and he truly has done a great job, so I guess I'll oblige.

Let's be fair here. In PM I ask you nicely to do me a favor and to just pick a real coach because its part of the game. Believe me, if I ordered you to do it, you would know the difference.

And you did do it and for that I am greatful and thank you immensely. TP

So Jonas 'V for Vendetta' Valanciunas is projected to have 14 points, 9 boards, 2 blocks, and 56% shooting. Discuss.
Sounds about right.

I think Jonas might actually score a bit more and get up around 16ppg.

Dwayne Casey is talking about changing his offense to make Jonas the focal point down in the low post. Wants to play through him much more often than Toronto did last season. FG% might drop a bit but I would still expect it to be a very healthy number.

Not surprised but a pretty uneasy update on Andrew Bynum.

Quote
Bynum is still working on his cranky knees. He had surgery on both in March. He is working on losing the 20-some pounds that he needs to dump. He is doing what the doctors and trainers have asked. But he’s not close to being ready for full basketball activities.

Sorry fellas, I am traveling.  I will take a guy who's used to building a strategy around superstar talent and has a couple of rings to show for it - Eric Spoelstra.

Well, I will go ahead and take Doc Rivers, but I'm going to put him directly on the trading block.

Since his market value is well-established, this should be easy. I am willing to part with him in exchange for your first round pick.

First taker gets a TP
