Your jibes are too serious, unoriginal and don't rhyme. I feel like I'm being picked on by Carlton.

I wrote you a LIMERICK.

That limerick was okay. But you're not giving me enough credit for that "bend at the knees" crack. I'd like to a third party to weigh in here. Can we get a scorecard through Round 4?

That limerick was GROUNDBREAKING. It's the Celticsblog version of Cross Road Blues.

Which I guess means I've made some unsavory deals in my time.

Washington select Tobias Harris.
Washington could make some really sweet small ball lineups with T.Harris (PF) alongside J.Noah (C), J.Wall (PG) and K.Thompson (SG/SF).

Exciting roster. A lot of young up and coming talent.

Me.  Well, Kobe insists all trade offers be routed through a clinic in Germany he likes, but basically me.

  • I'm a Paul Heyman guy.
Thanks but I want to argue about Bogut and spacing.

He does not have a good mid range game, but he plays well at the high post.

I think Bogut is very good in the high post when alongside a forward. Someone who provides offensive fluidity through either their jump-shooting range or by having superior quickness and cutting game to take advantage of Bogut's passing (and pulling opposing shot-blocker away from basket) helping to create movement and flow to the offense.

I am not sure Bogut will be as effective in the high post when coupled with a different sort of PF. One who is (a) like G.Monroe, a heavy usage low post scorer (2) like Varejao, a garbage man who needs to hang around the basket.

(a) Pessimistic about Varejao/Bogut working well together offensively. I think Bogut is the wrong type of C for Varejao to function effectively alongside offensively as PF.
(b) Unsure about Monroe/Bogut offensively due to Bogut's partial high post game + Monroe's similar high post flaws + Monroe's need for a large amount of touches as a low post scorer.

Well, Greg Monroe has solid mid range game. He's not David Lee quick but he does have the range to extend to 15-17 feet and knock some shots. And to give an example of how it worked, last playoffs series he worked well with the forwards of GSW staying down low and him playing PnR with Curry up high. Bogut either got the ball and drove middle, found an open three point shooter or a cutter, even when the forwards of GSW stay down low. It will work well with Monroe as he commands his man to stay on him. You give Bogut space and he can beat any Center off the dribble, if Monroe's man goes to help, easy drop pass.

Also, Varejao and Shaq worked well and they are both underneath the baskets most of the time. Bogut playing high PnR and Andy stays down low waiting for a drop pass. But they won't play as much together in this system, Andy is Bogut's backup and on certain situations will then, only then they will see the floor together. Don't underestimate the 10-15 feet jumper of Andy as well.

Last year Monroe was roughly a 27% jump shooter. David Lee was around 37.5%

Monroe was clearly trying to work on his mid range shot, but it hasn't come together yet. So that's why the spacing could be tough unless he really improves.

Of course he's very good in the post, so you don't want him taking too many either.

Just so everyone knows...Kanter is a 42.5% jump shooter, and Gasol's historically better than that.

So like...Space, y'all.

Rebus, will you play Tobias at the 3 or the 4?

Either way, you got a great young scorer on your squad.

Right now, thinking 4 ala Melo (note I'm not saying he's Melo). Depending on how the next few picks go, possible 6th man.

IIRC Monroe and Drummond, who has no mid range game (shooting or high post game) whatsoever, worked well.

Bogut plays in the high post, that alone gives enough room for Monroe to work. He's (Greg) also a good passer so you cant double him and just expect a turnover. Bogut is also a good cutter and finisher to the basket.

I'm not worried about spacing, Bogut plays the screen and roll on the top of the key well, there's enough room for Monroe to operate there.

Actually, there's a fair amount of concern over the pairing. Their skillsets aren't particularly complimentary, but since both big men are just obviously so talented, they're inclined to wait and see if they can gel.

But with josh Smith and {unselected} in town this year, that might change quick.
