Vote, discuss: it's the summer. Nothing's happening.

i dont see him as a very motivational guy, and I think he'll micromanage his point guards to death bc he wants to be out there so bad.  Kind of like Avery Johnson.  He might be a good out of timeout play caller like Doc is though.

Doc's a former PG too, but i think hes more of a people person, and I think had been away from the game long enough to separate himself as a coach.

Having KG on his team certainly helps him though.  I just think he'd have a much better chance coaching a young and up and coming team. Maybe it's just me but i think he might have a problem coaching a veteran team with players like Pierce on the team that might question his decision making on play calling in crunch time.

  • No no no, not THAT "Eric M Van".
I think he's on a short leash and if the Nets don't start out well he'll be canned sent to Siberia and George Karl will be hired.

I don't consider him  to be particularly intelligent, which may not hurt on the court, but won't help him on the sidelines.
"Because there are no fours."
-- Antoine Walker when asked why he shoots so many threes

"We're going to turn this team around 360 degrees."

He better be. Prokorov has a lot of money riding on this year's team.

How many other players went straight into coaching the year after they retired?

The player/coaches did this obviously. But have any other players done what Kidd has done?

Aside: I had no idea player/coaches were this common.

where's the option:   He'll beat his team until they bend to his will?

  • Rondo doesn't believe in easy buckets...
He'll be as good as Lawrence Frank makes him look.

I want the Nets to beat the Heat in the playoffs, but I don't think they can with Kidd at the helm. Too many egos to balance to have a guy with no coaching experience.
