"You just want to get it out of the way. When you gotta go through something tough, I've always been a guy that just wants to get it out of the way. It's gonna be in the back of my mind," Pierce said.

Pierce added that he does not plan to go to Boston for the preseason meeting there against the Celtics.

"I'll do it just one time next year," he said.

Pierce thinks this team top to bottom is the most talented one he's been on -- at least on paper. He also thinks the Nets have all the ingredients to win a championship, but it will take sacrifice.

"So I just want to instill that in the teammates, the organization," Pierce said. "This is our time. This is it. A lot of players, a lot of teams, you don't get this opportunity. It's tough. I played so many years with so many bad teams -- it's like, when you get these opportunities, you cherish them."

we had potentially the most rounded starting 5 of all time.

5 HOF will do that, even if four of them are running on fumes.

I don't mind if Pierce skips all his games against the Celtics this year.  Serve out his 1 year in Brooklyn and re-sign in Boston during the offseason.  Then he can come off the bench, mentor the youngins and retire a Celtic and know that getting traded helped the long-term health of the team.

  • We may as well put Tyrion in at center.

Agreed. I would rather have a healthy 37 year old Shaq than Brook Lopez on the Celtics. Lopez is pretty skilled, but Rondo/Shaq was shear dominance. It was a shame they couldn't share the floor very much.

Their bench is better than the '11 bench, though - one of the best in the league on paper.
I like Marcus Smart

don't expect pierce to come back next year specially on what he was paid for right now, championship winners or not, i think pierce will stay in brooklyn, he is loving the city

pierce can come back on celtics at the age of 40, and that's a good idea

I think you're right..In another interview PP said he had a 2yr championship window with the Nets. He also said that this was his last camp in Boston and that he probably would start one in NY. He loved Boston, but he's welcoming the change in NY.
