Doc Rivers admitted it will be tough for Paul Pierce to transition from being with the Boston Celtics to playing for the Brooklyn Nets, but he believes the move could rejuvenate the veteran.

"I think in some ways, it may give him more life," Rivers said. "But I just think it's tough for him personally. Like he said in the press conference, he wanted to stay and wasn't allowed to, and that's tough for him."

Pierce was dealt to the Nets in July, along with Kevin Garnett.

"I think it will come together," Rivers said. "Listen, anything comes together when a lot of people want it to come together, and they have a lot of guys that want it to come together. Paul, Jason [Kidd] and Kevin want to win another title and everyone else wants to win their first. So if they all want to do that, then it all will work out."

Paul Pierce should never, EVER doubt that we, the fans, would have loved to have seen him begin and end his career in Boston.  It's also my hope that we haven't seen the last of him in Celtic green either.  I'm not talking about a one day contract, I'm holding out hope that he can come back for his final year, when that occurs.

Either way, this move will turn out to be the BEST thing possible for him given all the circumstances that were in play.  Once Doc decided he wanted to leave, then the handwriting was on the wall for the next few moves.  This way, he and Kevin can now hopefully push the Nets into a position to compete with the Heat.

If Boston can't win the championship, then nothing would thrill me more than to see Paul and Kevin holding up a trophy!

Welcome to the board, here's your first Tommy Point. And I couldn't agree more. If the Celtics are not winning, I'll root for The Captain and KG (and the Jet) to get their deserved rings. They should've three-peated if it wasn't for Kg's knee injury.

I won't root for Deron Williams, Joe Johnson, and the Nets.

But I root for Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett!

Someone's gotta shoot the assistant copy editor--Doc's pretty clearly talking about the JET in that sentence.

Thanks kindly for the TP...I'm a long time lurker who probably will never add a lot of statistics and knowledge to the discussions, but I will bring a lot of heart for the Celtics!  Been my team since the days of Cowens and Company!

Thanks again!

Why does Rivers continue to yak about Pierce and the Celtics?

He sure wants to be a focus of attention diva IMHO

Maybe because he had a 10 year relationship with Paul, and won a championship with him?

i hate seeing KG and pierce in anything but green. but...we got a decent return for them AND they get to compete for a title. there was no chance that was happening here. we could have made runs, sure, but there is no way our team would have made it past the 2nd round of the playoffs.

The only thing that may happen with PP is we may sign him for a one day contract to retire him to the rafters. As far as seeing the Nets win ,they are the enemy. I hope they flop big time in Brooklyn. A good draft pick is the only thing we should be looking for from the Nets. I know a lot of you may think this is a little harsh ,but this is the NBA and that's the nature of the beast.
